  • I used to walk everywhere I feasibly could as I hated getting the children in and out of the car. Excellent exercise especially when pushing a double buggy. X
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Hi SSS, walking is definitely good. We try and go out from the office at least once for a brisk walk too.

DH sadly didn't have any overtime and wages were less than normal! Cheque went out for swimming lessons so I have had to raid our holiday savings account. I did however send an extra £27 to the cc so now only £257 extra to find for the month. I really am not sure what prompted me to set such a challenge!

9p tilly tidy made too, mustn't forget that!

I have £5 in my purse which will go on birthday gift for a party dd is going to, and I have £20 in the bank which I hope will last all week. However, it's half term so this could be a challenge.

    Thanks Al, you too.

Checked one of the cc accounts and the balance was higher than I had written down, think this will mess up my monthly target. not sure what has happened there.

DH chased up pension again and they suddenly announced it was in the account, 2 minutes after informing him they needed more paperwork from us. I though it was going to be so straightforward.

Car search today was unsuccessful but going back next week in the hope something more suitable is there. I basically want a newish car, with few miles on the clock with excellent mpg amd I don't want to spend a lot!

Since all is quiet on the income front I need to make sure we spend very little this week. DH was convinced yesterday we needed a 'top up' shop so I did a meal plan to prove that we didn't. Have a fruit and veg delivery coming tomorrow and am getting loads for £7!! We have enough in the freezer to create meals from that and more. Going to the supermarket for a few things is too dangerous!

Didn't need to us cash for party at the weekend as found a present in the stash. :) Have £20 left in the bank but as using that for the veg box plus a mini car valet as selling my car soon and would like a couple of weeks benefit from a clean and tidy car!

Managed to do a yougov survey yesterday and keep checking TCB as money expected to be payable by the end of the month.

Might have a clear out of the playroom this week and aim to sell a few things and take a bag to the charity shop. The house is feeling very cluttered again!

Well it is worth frequently checking ones TCB account! £52.50 payable this morning from buying car insurance in December. :j:j
Being typically impatient I want to pay it off the cc now but when requested payout it said it may be up to 14 days? Am sure it used to be a lot quicker?

Re: the mortgage, next month if we overpaid an extra £8 next month, the balance would be just under £93k but I can't adjust it online which is annoying.

Veg order arriving today and am taking my car for a valet so that's my last £20 gone. Can't spend money if it's not in the account though so worth leaving a small amount in the bank. I also find that if I am running low on petrol I avoid using the car so have refrained from putting petrol in yet.

DH also renewed his phone contract yesterday, he doesn't use it much so got a good deal for £13.99 a month. Broadband and tv deal is next on my list!

The car hunt continues.....hoping for some progress today or am going to go into panic mode!

We bought a fab car! A relative has kindly given us the money so wanted to make sure we spent it very wisely. It should be more economical and not need lots of repairs like my current car seems to be spiralling towards. Will have some money left over too which will put towards changing DH car at the end of the year.

TCB payment on its way. I may overpay it tomorrow!

Fruit and veg order has been delayed so had to amend the meal plan slightly. dH has a day off today, fingers crossed he doesn't do any food shopping!

Sold 2 textbooks on a fb page I am on so that's an extra £20 that needs to go somewhere? I always send ANY extra to the cc in an attempt to reduce total ASAP but realistically we are a few years away from clearing them. So, do I do what some others do on here and split each bit of money made?

Last working day of the week tomorrow before a lovely long family weekend.
