Am almost at payout on Onepoll, just 75p needed which I will hopefully do over the next 2 days. Think I will leave this one alone then.

Aw I really like Onepoll - lots of random topics :)

  • Hi Cath... Great news on the backpay!

Who's installing your boiler? He got an independent shop to do ours and they had a 5 year servicing plan (boiler also had 2 years guarantee but we had to prove annual service too) which saves about £200 compared to paying each year for a service.

I like Onepoll too but don't have the time anymore to keep checking for invites to surveys.

It is a local company but know the plumber through a relative. Just double checked and the guarantee covers parts and labour warranty and 2 years guarantee on new pipework.

Think i'm probably just worried about older pipework. We had a new boiler when I was younger and had a big flood from where new pipework was connected to the old pipes!

Boiler work has started and will be finished tomorrow. I didn't realise it would affect almost every room in the house!

We have hit a potentially stressful problem. The wall we wish to knock down is possibly load bearing! I think I am more prepared for the cost than inconvenience. I HAVE to find the money, it's as simple as that. I really don't want the kitchen work delayed though as it already been put back a week.

Transferred £46 to savings which was made up of selling an item for £12, saving on Lovefilm subscription and other bits.

We've had loadbearing walls knocked down and then had huge cranes lifting over those massive steel support lintels that you usually need instead. Result is the family room and kitchen both have 'beams' in the ceilings - but you don't notice them really and worth it for the space created. We had one in our old house, too, from an extension - we made a feature of it and had lots of the IKEA wooden photo frames (they were 3 for £1) hung over it on both sides with pictures of the children in :D

It is added expense - but necessary expense!

So far it seems that the wall isn't load bearing as the plumbing team lifted the upstairs floorboards and they have been able to check. Just waiting for a quote from them and one from the kitchen company.

    Quick post as baby stirring!!

Quote back for knocking wall out. Why didn't I marry a builder??? :D

Had to chase up re: kitchen and the ball is well and truly rolling now and we have some busy weeks ahead. Will definitely be worth the hard work, disruption and expense though. I haven't been on rightmove for at least a week ;)

    Arghhh, baby awake!

    to be continued.......

    ^^^ if anyone wants it?

Sold a few items of baby clothing so will work out profit once posted and transfer to savings. Somehow need to try and get organised for Christmas, I seem to start off well but then stop.

Kitchen renovation is proving to be a big project and a money pit!

Why do I never get time to sit with a coffee and catch up with diaries anymore! Am sure I'd be more switched on with money making/saving if I could. DH just nipped to post parcels so money transferred to savings. Hopefully someone is collecting items tomorrow which will be another £20 for the kitchen pot.

Am hoping the next 4 to 5 weeks go quickly as my house is so upside down! We are going to be without lighting in the kitchen for sometime too so need to find myself a large lamp!

Tesco vouchers came this morning, got £38 which will be a tidy sum when quadrupled, just not sure what to spend on. Has anyone used it for holidays/days out etc? I was looking at Legoland Windsor?

I've been feeling the same for a while, but after realising how much money we seem to be frittering away I've realised I need to MAKE time in the hope it will help keep me on the straight and narrow.
