Glad your first week went well. It's taken me ages to get the house back in order after returning to work, but I am doing 'little and often' to keep on top of things.0

Hello!
Going back to work full time and having an active, non-napping 9 month old is not leaving me much free time at all!
Tried to set myself a £250 grocery budget last month and despite being careful went way over budget. We spent at least £300  That said, haven't been shopping yet this month so it might even out if we can come under budget.
Sold a couple more items but the money seemed to disappear into the abyss of day to day living! Work in the house has come to a temporary standstill as I'm still waiting for the decorator to ring me! Might pop out with dd later to choose some wallpaper although she wants black?????
Wish I had more time to come on here - think i've lost my mojo a bit!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Nice to hear from you again, let's hope the mojo returns soon!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Had a couple of busy weeks at work and days off are simply catch up days! Can't seem to keep on top of accounts at the moment as DH is paid weekly so I'm having to wait to pay for things as used my wages for our monthly bills. This month will be better as I should have a full wage which means we will have money left over! Also TC had our income wrong so hoping a correction means we are entitled to more than the pittance they are currently giving us!
Still decluttering but have also bought some Christmas presents in the famous sale taking place at the moment.
House is a mess! Waiting for decorator to confirm when he can come so not everything can be put back in place which is annoying. Managed to buy some end of line wall paper saving a few ££££ and the quote is very reasonable. I just want to get the room finished and make it beautiful! I'll never cope with the mess of the kitchen being knocked through!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Lounge is decorated and looks fantastic! :j I am so pleased with it.DD (nearly 4) has now decided it is her room and me, daddy and baby can have the playroom! That wasn't quite how I planned it. I think the price we paid for the work was really reasonable and I can't see me ever decorating again, the professional finish is definitely worth it.
Day off today and lots to do as got a run of shifts coming up (50 hours in 5 days). Cheque from GTM been here a few days so I need to pay that in. Money arrived from Superpoints too and signature updated. I've done really well from TCB etc so far this year.
Tax credits been paid and not much change from last months payment despite them having our income completely wrong! Hoping the paperwork arrives soon so I know our entitlement and if I can possibly get help with childcare costs as two children in nursery is crippling!
Payday next week, hoping to transfer a bit into savings as it should be a decent wage and will hopefully make the fact I'm back in work fulltime a bit easier to deal with.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Sounds like your mojo is returning. It will take you a while to settle down after your big changes.
I'm imagining your lovely lounge! We need to plug on doing our own decorating so I'm jealous!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
A little progress made. Payday arrived and was fab compared to my maternity pay! I've increased my regular SO for OP's. Since I can't view my mortgage online at the moment I prefer to just OP once a month rather than messing about with the SO too much. Still need to find nearly £1k to hit target for the year although have more than this in house savings account so in theory I'd have smashed my target!!!
Superpoints still going well and i've requested payment. I had been using it to clear my student overdraft - NOW CLEARED!!! :jso now I can find another home for that easy money. Had set myself a budget of £200 for groceries for July and i'm way under at the moment so even a weekend shop will see us come in under budget and possibly give us a headstart for August! :j
I could really do with doing some decluttering this weekend, failing that at least find a home for everything and do some re-organising!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
