I have done no decluttering! Had no motivation after baby decided to feed pretty much ALL night!! Instead played lots with DD and we had an indoor picnic which made her day!

We've got blocked drains though, have decided against using caustic soda as it sounds too dangerous and have left details with a site and am waiting for quotes. I do hate days when I don't get anything done though, what a waste!

Good bit of motivation though: mortgage currently starts 110k, 1st of Feb be in the 109's and if OP by at least £120 will start March at 108k!

Losing hope on the FD mortgage application so may reapply in May/June when I have all the paperwork they need.

  • I've used caustic soda before, with no gloves or anything , but it unblocked the drains perfectly! It is good stuff, I really would recommend giving it a go before you get the professionals in.

The mortgage is really ticking down now, isn't it? Well done!

I'm too scared to go on rightmove - am happy with our home and the next step up would be too much for us. I do occasionally look at welsh cottages/small holdings, but that is just torturing myself as I can't afford one anyway :rotfl:!

Thanks MW, we did try it but it hasn't worked. Am expecting someone recommended by a friend to call this afternoon. I can't use WM or DW incase it joins the sludge starting to appear in the garden!!

Did a quick check of CC balances today after a phonecall from bank offering me a useless deal. We owe quite a bit more than I would like due to our expensive month and interest free on the big balance ends in April. Am hoping if I clear the £200 on MBNA they will offer me a transfer offer.

Worked out our incomefor 2011/12 as I wasn't sure what it would be due to mat leave and I had overestimated by £3k so hoping we are owed a little bit - that would be most welcome.

DH ex-employer meant to be sending month 12 payslip today so hoping the FD mortgage can still be done. I just need statements from one of my accounts I think but shredded the last lot that came - oops!

Right, off to check accounts to see if anything else can be sent to CC.

Also, my written job offer came today!!! When I return to work i'll be earning £10k more than I have whilst on maternity leave.

Howeer, H**C have decided to convert my account from a graduate to a current and charging me for my OD so need to take my letter which disputes this into branch. There are no people in my nearest branch!!!

Drains unblocked at a cost of £95! Was an extra £95 to send a camera down to see what was going on and decided against it as not expecting neighbours to contribute despite it being a shared drain.

Feel really deflated and dissatisfied with the house at the moment, wish it felt like home. We absolutely love the area so the sooner we can make it into the home was want, the better.

glad you got the drains sorted. I'm having the kinda opposite problem, love my house, hate, hate, hate the area and distance from everything and everyone!!

I don't know about you, but when I was on Mat leave and in the house all day, I was scrutinising every inch of it and it got me down too. As soon as DH came home every evening, I launched into a long monologue about what needed doing and my plans for renovation - much to his horror! :rotfl:

As soon as I got back to work, I was that tired every evening it didn't bother me so much. We eventually renovated the whole house but only really finished it off the month before we moved out. Having young kids is an energy sapper, but you will get there eventually :)
  • I'm exactly the same! We only moved into our house 3 weeks before DD was born, so not had chance to do any decorating, I just ignore the puke green hallway and carpets in living room that wouldnt look out of place in a country pub! Back from mat leave in March so may have a bit extra cash to be able to do something with house, but then wont have the time.

You know you could be right. I'm home all day and love my time with the children but am looking at things that could be done and as I'm at home we don't have as much money! We will get there. I also have a tendency to feel low when I'm not doing enough iykwim. i.e. in the past I've always been busy with stuff, I've done 2 degrees, the second with a baby, have done mini projects in the house etc and I would find if I had a week off and it was simply time off I would start to feel low. I think I have to have a healthy level of stress which keeps me busy and sane!

We need to think about getting a fence to replace the hedges between us and next door in case the roots are contributing to the drainage problem. I have to admit I ended up on rightmove this evening before writing my earlier post!

£8.15 requested from TCB which was mostly newvista survey money. Postal order for £3.50 received. Tax credits gone in and food shop done using the last of my vouchers. Lost track of accounts a bit so will work out what we need for food and petrol and transfer and see what we can OP/pay CC from the rest.

DH ex company sent a copy of wrong payslip - they get worse!!
