I think sometimes when you're faced with having to pay something off like that then it makes you focus and act well. We had to do that with a PC when ours broke a couple of years ago and managed it before the cc bill came in.

    Morning all,

Sold another item yesterday for £10 so transferred it to renovation savings, it's nice to see the amount steadily increasing.

Submitted gas and electric meter reading yesterday and it seems ourusage is quite high despite us all being careful.

Need to post 2 items today but may send DH when he finishes work as it is so frosty outside. I could do with meal planning for the rest of the week as we have loads of food and I don't want to waste anything. DD however empties the fruit bowl at some speed so a top up shop will be needed in the week!

Good news on the sales Cath. Our increase in electricity spends was due to tv usage I think!

I think I need to balance this post with negatives and positives!

We have hit a blip! Got a big CC bill due to having to buy a new laptop and DH's dental bill. That I could deal with and was just putting all survey earnings etc off that bill instead of the mortgage.

    BUT...

DH's old company thinK they have overpaid him practically a months salary! He needs to ring them when he gets home as I am 99% sure it shouldn't be that much and they have their figures wrong somewhere.

However, on the upside :) I only need a couple more bits and pieces to send off for mortgage! Should be ready next month which should allow enough time for processing and house valuation.

Also, family happy and healthy and my children are amazing - I must stop stressing about money! :)

That is stress Cath. How can they have overpaid him so much??? Easy for me to say as my salary is fixed, but that sounds very tardy of them, if that's the right word. You don't need that.

The CC bill must not sit well with you being so good with your money, but neither were frivolous spends and you know you'll pay it off.
At least you have it in perspective, but understandably a worry! Take care xx

Any news on how much the over payment is? And what do you plan to do?

I honestly don't understand how they could have overpaid him that much! Have you had it all checked out/ a breakdown of their workings out?

Glad to hear that the important things in life (ie family and health) are all good though.

After some investigation he doesn't owe as much but has incorrectly been 'charged' for 6 extra days A/L so we are still trying to sort that out but previousn manager not too helpful! Once that is sorted we owe about £340 which we can arrange to re-pay.

Sold some more stuff but not adding to sig as not received money just yet. I did however transfer £75 to savings as had that much extra in my pay than what I had estimated. Also paid another £110 off CC so that bill is coming down nicely. Can probably OP a least £300 next month!! :)

Had car trouble earlier and had to ring AA who were fantastic, arrived in 20 minutes and made my car safe again. Cost £45 for a new coil and I need to look into replacing the other 3 as they tend to go together.

January hasn't been a great month so far!
