Morning Cath and Happy New Year!

I've been reading your diary and admire your sharp focus and frugal thinking. I felt embarrassed when I read that you've always been good with money. I'm the polar opposite, but have got better and hope to improve further by taking tips from people like you - so thank you x

Oh and congrats on your new baby! :)

Not very good with links on here, hope it works!

Thanks everyone for New Year wishes.

I have always been sensible with money, I'm a bit of a planner and bought first house whilst studying my first degree. I was actually saying to DH yesterday that financially things should continue to improve for us as we have been used to paying a large mortgage with a low income. We also discussed renovation plans again last night so I'm looking forward to boosting savings in preparation for this. A £4k ish payrise will certainly help this!

A definite plan for January is decluttering, any survival tips?

I'm still plodding along and the small OP's are adding up this month. Requested 2 small payments from TCB and OP'd those.

Interview Thursday and not done any reading yet but I do have the notes so should just be a case of refreshing myself! I think I should get the job based on my ability to get myself and 2 small children ready and dropped off at 2 different childcare locations in time for a 9am interview! :D

Halifax reward not credited yet but will transfer as soon as it does. Paid for 2 lots of car insurance on CC last month so that will go towards paying that.

Wow this forum has got busy! :)

Interview today and got offered the job so that's roughly a 4k payrise which will do very nicely!

Have so much to catch up on as was distracted by interview preparation. A clear 'to do' list is definitely needed to make sure I don't miss anything. Paperwork came from FD for current account application to will get that done so that a free £100 soon comes my way! :D

I think a glass of wine tomorrow evening is well deserved especially if I have a constructive morning tomorrow whilst DD is at nursery.

Also received £50 M&S vouchers from buying insurance through the post yesterday so once I use them can OP that amount from our food account.

I'm hoping not. I kept quiet about me being on maternity. I got asked "are you off today?" and just said "yes!"

However, my manager was on the panel and is aware so she is going to get in touch with me. Hopefully it won't affect it as I want to maximise my leave especially now I am returning full time.

Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D
