Hi Iris,
How's things?
I couldn't activate Fatcheese from my email, then forgot about it and now can't find it! grrr. Will try and sort it out later.
Thanks for the encouragement and I guess £632 is near enough a mortgage payment and I remember a colleague who was overpaying years ago saying paying an extra mortgage payment a year knocks 5 years off.
I really need to find some good regular savings accounts now. Any ideas anyone?June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

I hear that HSBC has a regular saver 4%. May I suggest that you do a search on moneysupermarket? They generally have a good range.Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

LLoyds TSB are doing a regular saver/monthly saver at 5% gross. I considered it and planned to open this week along with a vantage account and switch from A&L/Santander because they are evil but it hasn't happened yet.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

Thanks. I am going to open one (not sure which) tomorrow when I get paid. Might actaully get to send an overpayment too!

good luck on the savings a/c and the overpayments- if its any consolation I havent been able to make any yet, but been adjusting my lifestyle and mindset in preparation (that must count for something right? :rotfl:)
exciting news about the baby too!!0 -
Thanks both!
Surprise bank credit of £25 today and cheques arrived from Music Magpie so there is a £40 OP taken care of! I like it when it happens like that!!
Have been following your diary TYO and I think a lifestyle change is half the battle of being MF, the overpayments will come in time.
SmlSve - are you trying too? I'm not sure about Lloyds, don't bank with them and never heard a good word said about them! May see what existing banks are offering too just to make life easier!
Saving will not be easy when my first instinct is to pay it off the mortgage!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Yay for the £40 OP!SmlSve - are you trying too? I'm not sure about Lloyds, don't bank with them and never heard a good word said about them! May see what existing banks are offering too just to make life easier!
Yeswe've been trying since June. My Lloyds account was my first one ever and I've just kept it open. Generally it is terrible for savings as the rates are soo low but the regular saver is ok.
I also have an A&L curtent account & ISA, Natwest current account & savings, Halifax current account and ING savings account!
I like saving on a par to OPing as I can actually see my savings go up whilst my mortgage won't let me see it onlineCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

DH got paid today and i already seem to have dwindled it right down! Opened a 3rd Halifax account (hope they don't notice!) and had to credit that with £100. Have sent another £15 as OP making October total only £80! Have topped up ISA a little although it is on a terrible rate but attached to online banking so no hassle with it!
0% CC payment made too as car was purchased on it. Trying to get that right down before end of 0% next year.
Bought a few christmas presents yesterday. DD (aged 2) loves all the christmas displays so taking her to various shops at the moment. Not very MSE as I know I will end up spending!
Anyone started thinking of 2011 targets? I think I could OP £2000 depending on the baby situation! tbh, if on maternity I will probably be able to overpay more - epsecially if housebound with 2 children!!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
