Well done on the amazon sale, there will be no books safe it your house as it is addictive!! I sell on there but havent had any sales for a while.

Have you had a look at your listings recently? May be you have been undercut? I reduced the prices on some last week.

Cath, good luck with the car. Re using the credit card to buy it, you've thought it through and it is a good plan. Buy a pink car :)

grr for some reason can't work out how to quote!

Thanks for the tip Mennie, will have to search for some bargains, i paid £2.50 for Mr S basic stewing steak so 40p a go would save loads!

GallyGirl, keep checking back at my listings and am happy to drop the price as needed. I just want the books to go to a good home (and be paid for) so happy with anything I make really. No point being greedy and not having a sale!

I did think through the car purchase for some time, only problem is, it's the car I like and want but it's replacing DH car. Am thinking maybe we can swap from time to time!

OOOH MW, am off to check your SOA!!!

No other update here apart from being underpaid on my extra shifts and being stung on my student loan repayments! Only paid £13 from my main wage but £34 from my extras! Hardly worth doing anymore really.

Am trying to find stuff to ebay, got a load of In the Night Garden stuff I think DD [STRIKE]is bored of[/STRIKE] is getting in the way so that may be listed soon! Am trying to cash in on people perhaps looking for Christmas presents.

Well not a bad weekend overall. DH did a car boot sale yday and although only made £17 after paying for spot it's stuff that has kept coming back from boot sale and i was thinking of just getting rid of. The rest is in a charity bag and i have a box full of books I will list on Amazon before giving away.

Had my 2nd sale on Amazon yday so that's another £7 to add.

Aready been working out my OP for October. For some reason on my spreadsheet I set myself a target of a £300 OP (prob due to me expecting a better wage but ended up buying a car!!) However, I feel i really MUST still hit that target and so far have set up £80 to debit account on 1st along with regular payment. Will see what else we have when DH gets paid this week.

OnePoll was useless over the weekend! Now what else can i do to find funds for OP's!

Not sure how on board DH is with OP's, generally he never thinks about the bigger picture but is not happy that I have cut his monthly spends down to £150. I emphasised that he literally wastes this money but he isn't too impressed!

My DH gives himself £200 a month and never has anything to show for it either. I'm sure he spends it all on food and gadgets.

Well, another Amazon sale today so up to now I have another £15 I can send to the mortgage.

Have also been reading lately that interest rates looked set to stay low for quite a long time - now wouldn't that be nice!

Kind of losing track of my grocery spends so far this month as coming out of different account until DH gets paid. We have plenty in tho and i think the stew I made yesterday will feed the 3 of us for a week!

Roll on 1st so I can update the spreadsheet!! :rotfl:

Not much going on here apart from a bit of money juggling. Have finally switched everything over to monthly SO as all our income is now monthly and I was getting confused!

Well, it must be magical as for some reason this month I have been able to pay nearly £1000 off CC in preparation for new car and still have a few hundred [STRIKE]floating round[/STRIKE] being kept to one side for an extra OP.

I wonder if this will work every month? :rotfl:

Seem to be spending less on food which is pleasing. If only stew was interesting enough to eat everyday!

Other than that just been catching up on the diaries and noticing all the new ones that are popping up!

This post is just a little reminder for myself

Have nearly £10 in a likely 0% ISA that would be better being paid against the mortgage. Not sure whether to completely close the account though but I probably won't use that ISA again as not convenient.

£14 from Amazon sales need to send across to mortgage.
~£15 due in cheques from Music Magpie once CD's sent off.

So I will top this up to £40 making total OP for October so far £120. Am aiming for £300 and it's looking achievable the more I chip away at it. Providing we have a careful month I think I may just about hit it!

Had a phonecall yesterday as in process of changing energy suppliers (again!) I vowed this would be the last time but EDF have launched a new product to beat British Gas Monthly Monitor scheme. I just need to check that I won't incur any charges from British Gas. Good point is they said they estimate my usage to be £55 a month for both which is less than on my SOA so good news!

Hopefuly be able to update sig tomorrow as mortgage has gone out today.

Mortgage updated for October. Outstanding balance £119,188.17. I have totalled up my OP's since June and they are £632.23 not including my big OP goal for this month. I cannot wait to get sub 100k and hopefully see balance come down quicker. Although according to my spreadsheet some months I only spend that one month in a particular £1000 figure i.e once i get down to 116,036 following month is 115,490 then next is 114,952. Makes it look like you're steaming through the 1000's!

Racking my brains for OP ideas, not as easy as it is in the beginning now that everything has been sold!!

I guess when you're low on ideas of making more money it's all about spending less!

  • Cath T - you're doing great... I'm like you, getting terribly excited about my new total each month whilst trying to find ways to spend less! QB
