**woody123** wrote: »Hi,
Apologies if this question has already been answered on this thread but i have read through a few pages and can't see any posts relating to my question..
I would like to apply for the american express nectar card through cashback site quidco.. only when i am directed to the american express site it seems to want me to have a platinum card where i think the the mininum salary is 20k and mine falls a little short of that.. Could you please tell me if there is something i am missing or do i just apply for a platinum and they offer me a nectar as an alternative..
Thanks in AdvanceKavanne

I have an Amex platinum card & am closing my account this month, they only gave me a puny limit of £4500 2 years ago (never incerased it from day 1) & their customer service is very poor indeed.0

OK, here's one for the knowledgeable masses:
Do Lloyds TSB Duo Amex holders get the "cardmember benefits" stated on https://www.americanexpress.co.uk, or are these just for "direct" cardholders?0 -

Nope, we just get airmiles. I'm guessing Lloyds don't get the deals being an affiliate, definitely if they did they'd make more of a noise about it in their blurb"A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
do you think you get the mebership benefits with the red card?0

Hi, sorry if this is reposting info already here (no time to read 36 pages!) but I just phoned up to cancel my Amex Platinum as I now have other cashback cards (Capital One / Egg) which offer a better deal. I've had the card for about 15 months now I guess, so I've got my cashback for the first year already. Anyway, when I asked to cancel the guy immediately offered me 3% cashback on all purchases for the next three months (starting from my next statement date). So if you're thinking of cancelling, or just about to make some big purchases, it might be worth phoning up and seeing if they offer you a deal.
Hope that's helpful - again, apologies if I'm reposting old info.0 -
When will my 5000 nectar points for spending £200 on my nectar CC in the first 3 months be credited to my account? I spent £274 in the first month so already over. Will they be credited now I've spent over £200 or do I have to wait until 3 months have elapsed?Kavanne

Just a quick question, I have an amex card and have just finished with the 3 months at 5% introductory offer. I would estimate I have about another £6k that I will spend on credit cards this year. I've done the sums and it seems that I'm best off using my M&S mastercard (1% back via M&S vouchers which I can use for Xmas gifts) than using my amex card since a good portion of the amex card will be on 0.5%. First of all can anyone spot any flaws in the logic? And secondly do you need to keep using the Amex card occasionally in order to get the final cashback in a year's time? Any help much appreciated.0
