    Hi

I currently have a amex corporate chargecard - I kept an amex gold credit card so that I could still be eligible for amex "air miles" on both cards. Does anyone know if I can take out a platinum card as well - or do amex limit # cards - alternatively will the platimum card allow airmiles to be collected as well.
    Waddle you do eh?

Are there any charges for using an American Express card in Europe?

Check T&C. Euros get converted into $ and then into £ at prevailing rate +2.7%. Not clear whether the 2.7% is applied twice or once.

Hi, I have just changed from the Amex Blue card to the Platinum. Just be careful about the rebate – I got mine in month 12/13.
I had pre applied for the Platinum card which took a little sorting as Amex don’t seem to like you to have two Amex credit cards and on the call centres advise held off from returning the Platinum card acceptance form until I had the Blue card rebate (apparently the offer of the new card is valid for 6 months).
I then cancelled the Blue card and they consolidated the account, and increased my credit limit on the new Platinum card – all very efficiently done.

I thought you could apply for a platinum and be charged 30Pounds only? I am not sure I understand this business of the 6 month. Is a voucher required? I have plain BA/AMEX and AMEX Blue and was about to apply for BA/AMEX Plat Plus. I was under the impression the charge would be 30Pounds.
  • Just to correct the guy who has a British Airways American Express card, the miles earnings you posted were incorrect.

You get 1 mile per pound spent on BA and non BA with the free standard BA card.

You get 1.25 miles per pound spent non BA and 2.5 miles per pound spent on BA with a BA Premium Card which costs £60 per year.

You get 1.5 miles per pound non BA and 3 miles per pound spent on BA with the Premium Plus card which is £120 per year.

There is no such offer for double miles when you spend more than £200

American Express Charge Cards are the original American Express card products and its what the company is famous for. With a charge card there is no pre set spending limit and you have to pay the balance in full every month.

The yearly fees vary depending on which card you have and how much money you have. The charge cards are the mainstay of AMEX's exclusive image. They give their Platinum credit cards to anybody but you have to earn more than £35,000 to get the plat charge card. The fees range from £35 for the green to £600 for the Centurion (black) That's the card you have to be invited to get.

The point is great travel and "lifestyle" benefits.

    Correction.

You have just got the Gold Credit card rather than the Gold Card, which is a charge card.
