I am new to Amex too and have made a test payment to see how long it takes. It took two working days for the payment to appear on Amex. In practise I will give them them five full working days as they are not having a penny of interest. I'll also overpay a bit incase there are outstanding items that don't appear on the bill.

Saw this on the AMEX website today. Note the cashback levels. However if you go through the usual choose cards feature, you get the new (worse) cashback levels. Did call AMEX cust services, but did not get a proper response (i.e. scripted non-answer)."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Regarding Amex Platinum:
If one has multiple card holders under one account, how does Amex work out the cashback?
Is the "annual rebate on the aggregate amount" per account or card holder?
So if it is per account then if there are 2 card holders and they spend say £4000 each, they would receive 2% for £7501 to £8000.
If its per card holder then they would each receive 1% from £3001 to £4000 on their spending.
As I understand it, the cashback would go to the primary card holder.
Is the minimum spend per account or card holder? (so as not to incur the £15 fee on spending below <£500 and the minimum for cashback - £5)
The point of this question is that if cashback works per account, then it would be advisable for ones entire family to share one account as this would maximise cashback.0 -
Per account - and yes, if you can trust them!0

Thanks for the answer.
Well it will be worth it especially as a member of my household has just received the "up to 4% cashback in first three months" mailing from American Express.
Another Question:
What does up to 4% cashback mean? Its not explained anywhere in the letter as far as I can see. The up to 2% cashback explanation which is applied after the third month is buried in the terms and conditions (and not in the footnotes).0 -
This morning I received a cc offer for the American Express Gold card, with 0% on purchases
and 6.9% on BT for LOB. I tore up this unsolicited mail but might this marketing offer mean that I can now be accepted for a 0% BT deal
???. You may remember that in April and May I was rejected for 7 0% deals and have not applied for any since
.
