Why can you not get it done on the NHS if it is urgent?

It's hard to get the operation at my age and even if I did (which is a very slim chance), there owuld be a very long waiting list.

On the hospital website, it does recommend a firm called First Medical Loans but they declined me. I can't remember why but I think it may have been to do with not having a guarantor.

I assume this must be cosmetic then. Why the rush?

Well I'd preferably like it all done before I start university.

If it's cosmetic, would the money be better spent on counselling to improve your self esteem and body image?

Hey, I am 18 years old and a student and I am having an operation on Monday which I urgently require £1600 for.

I have tried a few well known banks and credit cards but I have been rejected and I have now applied to several loan companies over the internet but I am worried that some of them may fraudulent. However, I still really need the money. I am not sure whether my dad would agree to being a guarantor.

I currently bank with Lloyds TSB and Alliance & Leicester. I applied for a loan with Lloyds TSB over the internet but I wasn't successful (this could be because my account is an under 19s account, I have a meeting with my bank manager to upgrade it to a student account on Friday). I am hopefully going to Alliance & Leicester tommorow to try and get finance.

I have applied to Natwest and RBS but I don't know if my accounts will be set up by Monday.

I am starting to really panic, should I get a few small loans from companies such as Wonga? Does anyone have any other companies to recommend? Can anybody help in any way?

    Thank you for reading (:

If you applied for a loan with Lloyds TSB recently and they have turn you down it then they will see the credit search when you apply for the student account and will turn you down again.

If the operation is not needed for health reasons then I think that you should save your money to get through university.

Sometimes these threads leave me in a state of sad shock at the vacuuity of it all . . .

Where did we go wrong as a society? Serious question.

Would your father lend you the money?

I doubt he would but as a last resort on Friday I iwll ask him to be my guarantor for First Medical Loans because I think that is what they asked for.

I'm wondering if this is something that should have been corrected when you were younger. My DH had an operation when he was young as his ears stuck out, just wondering why yours wasnt done earlier or would the NHS not do this kind of op now?
