  • Goodluck with the science stuff - I understand where you're coming from - I dropped all my sciences at school - so sometimes I find I have mega blanks to fill.

Grr to finding vouchers after spends and to folk wasting time on courses

Yay to colouring more things in and making the best bread in the world. :)

I agree wholeheartedly that sunny days can't be wasted cleaning and tidying........................x
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

The problem with me is that no days are wasted with cleaning and tidying at the moment! We got back from France on the 29th August and half of DD's clothes are still in her suitcase dumped in my bedroom, albeit clean!!!

Maybe tonight.......but then I'm feeling all coldy still after nearly 3 weeks and can't be bothered with it, I just want to go to bed with a good book and snuggle under the duvet.

Going out to buy some oasis for Rainbows next week. I have no idea what I'm after, as flower arranging isn't one of my favourite pastimes (for that read, I have NEVEr arranged a flower in my life!)

Oops, a girly chum popped over and we just had to drink a couple of bottles of vino *hic* :)

In other, more debt-busting news, I found £4 in coppers around the house and my £4 LV came through. Over 19 1/2 leaves now but may have to dip into it soon....

Morning all! It's lovely and sunny down here in Kittikins-land, DD is at school, I'm in the sitting room with hopefully not too much work to do, and I've just remembered how to divert my work phone to my mobile so will be able to nip out into the garden from time to time :) (unfortunately the battery has died on my laptop so I can work out there, darn it!!)

I've got a mountain of housework to try and climb, and am toying with the idea trying to find DD somewhere to have a sleepover tomorrow night so I can go out to a gig with a friend and some of her friends. I should really as I never go out and I love the band, but I completely forgot about it until I saw her at the school gates this morning. Oops!

    Money-wise,

Flower arranging is fun - lots of stuff on utube :)

Hope you enjoyed the vino and the lovely chum popping round what a treat!

Just wanted to say thanks - I found a bag of money in my unpacked bag from being away for the weekend - over £10 which would have sat there til goodness knows when - so down to you I know have a bag of money in the kitchen not lurking in the bottom of my away bag!

Enjoy the garden today - well done on the money finds!!

Ps any biological sciency stuff (plant based mainly is my thing) - if I can help - I certainly will :)

Hoorah to "free" money :) Glad hearing of my slatternly behaviour is inspiring others to not live in a pigsty ;)

I popped over to a friend's at lunchtime for a natter and told her of my desire to do a science GCSE and lo and behold it turns out she started one on Monday night this week!! Now, this is a big demand of the Universe, let there be a space left on the course when I call on Monday as this would be PERFECT for me for the following reasons:

    a) it's not "pure" science but human based, so presumably more interesting to a luddite like me as I'll be able to relate it to real life?!?
    b) it's cheaper than the other courses I've seen
    c) there's only one exam :)
    d) it satisfies the science requirements for primary GCSE
    and best of all
    e) my friend's daughter would be on hand to babysit every week!!

Please, please, please let the powers that be have a space.....but I'm trying not to get too excited about it.

However, there is a possible alternative - a more traditional Science GCSE in 6 months! It might not be something I'd be eligible for as I did my O levels back in the 80s, and it's up in London so I'd struggle with babysitting, but I am feeling positive about it. One of the options is going to work for me :):)

Money update - DD needs new ballet AND tap shoes :( I'm going to be able to offset some of the cost by selling her existing shoes to a friend's daughter who tried them on at the end of the class today, and I might be able to buy some second hand ballet shoes from another mother at the class, but I need tap shoes *sigh* Brand new they're £17 and only get worn for 15 minutes a week....*double sigh*

DD and I went to Waitrose and bought lots of v reduced bread products so I'll have emergency stuff rather than making it (as I've been a bit forgetful a few days this week........I know, I said no more shop bread but I only bought darned good stuff!)

Thanks to my luncheon vouchers I spent less than £4 on 3 bags full of stuff. We have full tummies and DD is looking like a ghost after her busy week. Time for her to get to bed methinks!!

DD came home with a school trip letter - £10. It's going to be squeaky tight to get through the month, but if I don't quite make it, I do have to remember I've bought quite a few christmas presents, so I may borrow a bit from next month (as it were) to keep me going.

We're off to Brighton to a veggie/vegan fair today before I take her to a party, and I've worked out it'll be much cheaper and fun to go by train than drive and pay through the nose for parking. Hopefully it'll sweeten the "going do an exhibition" pill for DD!

I'll try not to spend too much money whilst we're out, but we are going to be ladies that lunch :)

Had a lovely day yesterday in the sunshine with my best friend DD :) My drinking buddy from the other night turned up with a lovely bottle of rose in the evening so it was a good end to the day too! I must stop drinking so much wine though....oops

We had lunch in a restaurant and it was more than I should have spent.......grr.

Found 22p on the floor so have moved that into the account :)
  • Hey Kittikins
was impressed by your title as september always feels like a new year to me! :)
you sounds like you are doing great with the moneysaving/paying off and juggling everything you have to do - I too am looking to get out of a rather soul destroying job (no idea what I wanna go into tho!) and have a similarly big mortgage (no little people tho!) so will be reading your diary for ideas! I have started a MF diary too ...but am thinking I could do with a buffer as well (and not going into debt as I have no income at present!)
