I went into a local Tesco Extra and they told me I had to go to a store that had the phone shop. I got this yesterday. DH was on the £15 already with them, so they gave him the option of either getting it at the reduced price of £10 or sticking with the £15 per month and having 750 minutes of calls which he opted for instead.

For some strange reason it is only available instore but the deal is the same as the online £15 deal but you pay £10.
Some have been phoning Tesco mobile & manged to get it that way. 0845 301 4455

I rang the FREE 0800 433 4990 number and they set it up for me. Took 5 mins, sim arived after two days.

Only slight issue is that I had to pay from the 1st even though it started on the 11th. Only really cost me about £3.50, but would have been annoyd if I was on a £40+ tarriff! Better to ring after the 15th I believe if it concerns you.

I have a PAYG phone from Orange. Will I be able to use this phone as a contract phone and will I be able to keep my number?

If the phone is unlocked it shouldn't be a problem. If not Google the model and you may find a way of unlocking it for free.
As for your number, you will need to phone Orange CS and ask for your PAC (porting authorisation code) and once you have that contact Tesco CS with this number. Transfer will take about 3 working days from making the call.

My son went instore to get one last night, called here for my spare phone on 02 put the sim in & it worked straight away.
Do you know anyone on 02 to try their sim in your phone?

No but I might try my son's vodaphone sim in it.. I bought the phone from carphone warehouse and I'm sure I read that the phones that they supply are usually unlocked.
