. We recently got a large bill on my daughters phone who is on the £10 a month for unlimited texts.... Apparently the number of texts sent a month is capped to 3000... We have suggested to daughter to cut back on messaging and internet use which she has done!

I do worry that my daughter's generation are all going to have RSI by the time they are thirty. Very painful and restricting!
    Hope is not a strategy.

i have 3 sim only phones on mobile, one is mine £20 for 300 mins and unlimited texts, other 2 are both £10 for 300 mins 300 texts. My phone was originally a Tesco mobile so is unlocked but the kids' phones are Virgin so would have to pay to unlock them. Am wondering whether Virgin will price match since I have 3 phones with them.......dont want the hassle of switching but will do mine if necessary. Which is the best way to time this so that I dont end up paying my Virgin bill then another for Tesco at the same time...............Virgin bill due early October...

I changed to this deal on 2nd September and understood the sales girl in the Phone Shop to say that my 500 minutes would renew on 23rd of the month, i.e. 23rd September. When I logged on to the Tesco Mobile website, my account says my 500 minutes will not renew until 23rd October, making it 500 minutes for a period of 7 weeks (02.09.10 - 23.10.10) in the first instance.

Can anyone tell me if this is correct and you take a hit the first month you join, depending on the date you join, or whether they made a mistake and the 500 minutes should renew on 23rd September??

Thanks for any advice anyone can give me.

I think it is a case it't won't renew till the 23/10, so 500 min for that period. However, it'll also be £10 for that period too, ie 7 weeks rental for a tenner. Prehaps ring them and ask for your billing daye to be brought forward if you need the allowance.

Someone on here did have success in getting Virgin to match the deal. I tried twice and had no luck. I got through to "retentions" the second time and they weren't budging. I said I knew someone who had had their deal matched within the last couple of weeks, but He just said he couldn't see how it could have been done.
Oh well.... they're going to lose a lot of customers over this offer period.

Dont worry. You will get new minutes on the 23rd of sept. The software is limited to showing the minutes your contract delivers following the 1st direct debit payment and you have probably prepaid the 1st month. The 1st direct debit will sort out any anomolies in contract start date and the following payment will be £10 per month.

I'd either ring or check online to confirm. I ordered mine on the 9th Sept, was told I'd have to pay from 1st Sept. However on my online account it says I'm paid till 15th Sept and minutes renew then too. Personally I think yours will be similar except you may have asked for 23rd as billing date? They are unusual in that they don't do pro-rata minutes like others do.

Question of mine: Does anyone know if this can be used with Blackberry as the data is different on them?
  • hmmm, I just loaded up on those giff gaff giftbags which will see me through to the end of October (they even gave me £15 for messing up my number switch) but I'm thinking of getting n this Tesco deal if it's only on til october 10th

I would love to get this deal, but I need a new phone so if i got the sim i would be putting it into an old tired nokia which has no internet access lol.
Out of interest i suppose theres no way i can get round this, as to sign up to say one of the bigger companies where you get the phone with the contract means i would be tied into a years contract?

I did see a deal in a magazine with i think vodaphone for a HTC Wildfire at £10 a month but i can;t seem to see it on their website :(

I will check out Tesco's mobile deals and see if i can find a decent £10 a month one that comes with a phone :D
