This where you have to switch your phone off for a certain time is it your old sim you switch off, the new one or both? And is it necesity or is it just because signal will be up and down for that time?0

This deal is fantastic value. I've been using my new SIM for a week and everything was good up until yesterday......
Problem with Tesco is they are using O2's network so they are a bit limited in what they can do when there are problems. The mobile internet has been down in the area I work in all day today and yesterday. It works ok when I leave the area and I know it's a problem with O2 because my colleague is with O2 directly and has the same problem. Phone and SMS services work fine.
I phoned Tesco to enquire/report the fault yesterday and I was told they were unaware of anything and there was nothing they could do until I had left the area and discovered if the problem still occurs when getting signal from a different cell tower. So everything is ok when I leave the area for home yesterday so I phoned them back today to see if they have heard any details of the problem yet and if not to see if they would log a call to O2. They did a check of their system and found no reports of faults and said there was nothing they could do!
I understand it's not their network but they should really be logging a call to O2 on my behalf!
If it wasn't so cheap I'd cancel!!!0 -

rang o2 up about price matching, but they wouldn't, my mate rang orange (her provider) up and they price matched today.
just received my pac code from o2
does anyone know how long your phone is switched off for, before the transfer is done, also which sim do i have to have in the phone for the change over
thanks
First of all make sure you save all your contacts to the phone memory <or write them down> lol (not the SIM) - as the old SIM will lock itself if you try to use it afterwards.
It tends to transfer mid-afternoon for me (c2pm) and can take a couple of hours to fully take hold. They advise you (once your phone is accepting the ported number to make one chargable call from the new SIM card on the day. (but I haven't the 2 times ive done it and it was fine) :money:
A 'chargable call' can include inculsive minutes
During the transfer there may be connection problems ie:- you may have a signal but be unable to dial out, or you may be able to dial out but others are not able to reach you... but it quickly rectifies itself (30 mins - 2 hrs) :A0 -
For people trying to drum-up a better offer from leaving O2, you are wasting your time!! Tesco Mobile are one of O2's biggest customers (they rent a virtual network from them!!) cross matching offers is a better strategy :-) :A0

Has anyone managed to get Vodafone to match or offer a good deal to keep you? This offer is so tempting, but I would rather avoid switching networks unless I have no option.
Thanks.0 -

Me too. Hardly even had to ask! She just asked if that was the tesco deal and offered me the above deal :j:j:j0 -
Just ordered this on the phone with Tesco - I never thought to even look to see if I was getting a good deal from Vodafone. I was paying £20 a month for 300 mins and unlimited texts and no internet so I'm chuffed to bits! I was going to keep my old Vodafone number but my new Tesco one is very memorable with only a couple of different numbers so smiles all round! There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.0
