most of those infections were in restore points

have you got CCLeaner ? if so, run the cleaner and registry cleaner parts of it...only takes minutes..

I'd be inclined to turn off system restore for the time being - will delete all restore points save any other nasties hiding in there.....

...then back to RIK's post #7, and run combofix. Post the log back when done...

can you run CCLeaner and then combofix ?? If not, reboot into safe mode with networking (keep tapping F8 on power-on for the options) and go from there

well... I think I've done that. CC cleaner took no time at all, and then combofix turned the screen blue.....

If I then turn the computer off/on it comes on straight away without going into safe mode or anything.....
