  • Hmm.... Wild Thing was the Troggs, BDINI, can't remember Jim Reeves doing a song called that. Jim was a great favourite of my mum, think I must be turning into her:eek::eek::eek: because I've just bought his greatest hits CD (in Tesco, with my shopping before anyone mentions NSDs:D), but to redeem myself, at the same time I bought the new Manic Street Preachers CD:D:D

:o (hangs head in shame), just realised there must be 2 Jim Reeves & you're not thinking of the funny one, who i think covered Wild Thing some years after the original, i shall shuffle off & concentrate on the Manic's instead!!!!

...I was thinking of Vic Reeves so I was way out! :rotfl::rotfl: I do like a bit of the Manics, reminds me of my indie days. I remember seeing them at the Albert Hall - they were fab. I think my fav song is Motorcycle Emptiness in a melancoly type way.

Cheryl - cheers for the update about the bread, I don't feel so bad about not getting any now, though I am a massive potato fiend so I have an inclination I'd like it. You might notice a small space in your freezer too...I nipped in last night and gobbled the sour dough loaf you had in there :rotfl::rotfl: I'll replace with some apple crumble I'm going to make this weekend. ;)

Right - back to the grindstone. Have a fab day everyone. Not sure about NSD today as it's pay day and raining so might be a hot choc treat at lunchtime..... watch this space.

    morning all!
no NSD for me today, it's payday and the cupboards are bare and the car is driving itself on fumes alone!
only 1 to go until my target - whoop! so hopefully i'll manage that tomorrow, i will let you know!
have a lovely day everyone xxx
  • Hi All,

I'm now up to 13 NSDs for September, would have been one more if the bookings for the work car hadn't been messed up so I had to buy petrol early! BUt never mind.

Also, very proud of myself as this month is the first month since around 2003 where I have had money left over at the end of a month and have actually seen my whole monthly salary sitting in my bank account - what a lovely feeling!

Just paid another big chunk off my c/card and feeling very pleased with myself!
Finally, debt free for the first time since I was 18!:D

....have got to go out in a sec to pick up a parcel that they tried to deliver..........don't know what it is ....
Ooooohhhhhh...now I'm intrigued *peers over edge of monitor to see if she can spot parcel, Chad-stylee* I got all excited about a 'failure to deliver' so scurried off the 4 miles to pick it up, only to have to pay a couple of quid for a larger brown envelope that didn't have enough postage on it :wall:
.... I've had sooo much cake today I'm about to burst.. dopey, where's the umbrella?:rotfl:
I've never been so pleased to be going shopping! Between you & MrPDDI don't want to be anywhere near my poota till the all-clear sounds  _pale_

The money for the window cleaner's next visit is in the jar & my little list made for the supermarket. Me muvva writes down about 3 things on the back of an old crimbo card or something, then cuts off the tiniest square & wonders why she can't find it in her purse :doh:My list usually has comparative prices for stuff I don't buy very often & today I'm thinking of some hoi sin sauce for a recipe I saw on t'telly the other day; not had it before so what does hoi sin taste of :o....

Penultimate nsd banked yesterday so a very sweet 16 for me :D

Corse tizz--it's your B'day so your choice. I'm not adverse to a bit of country & love Dixie Chicks & Reba MacIntyre, but you can't beat a bit of Wayward Wind & Cheating Heart can you :p

AS BDINI says, please don't feel you have to leave; you are most welcome to stay for a chat if nothing else x

That sounds like a very special day Jinty & as long as YOU had a good time, that's all that matters isn't it? Sometimes I think the World is so intent on getting to tomorrow before today has had a chance to be, that so many of Mother Nature's Treasures are trampled in the stampede :o Worse still, too many folk think they have to spend a king's ransom in order to fully enjoy...anything--pub, theme park, book shop ;) Obviously my formative years must have been around the same time as The Age of Aquarius costumed-smiley-031.gif & going to San/Fran with a dandelion in yer lug-hole :rotfl:

I think I must have been around in trhe same formatiVe years as you BMF - your post really made me smile:)

As for HOISIN sauce, its sort of rich and plummy, teensiest touch sweet but not sickly. I really like it ! Hard to describe really. Go for it!;)

The potato and herb is really quite bland... I wouldn't have had any idea what it was meant to be if I hadn't read the label !! Smells really nice when it's warm and being packed, but certainly didn't live up to the expectations I had from that :(

Wondered why I was starting to see a bit of 'air' in my freezers, and the sour dough is the one in there I'm least likely to miss ;)

As for the apple crumble - don't worry about it. I've just (last night) finished off the individual ones I made at the weekend, and still have loads of stewed apple in the freezer (plus 2 bags of windfalls I've not managed to find the time to deal with yet - really must get it done tonight!)

X-ray results finally back, so have been to see GP this morning (called in last night, and was told they were there and he had just one appt left today). Showed a 'small calcium deposit' which is either in muscle or tissue (!!!!), but no damage. (As an aside, according to my GP a stress fracture can also be referred to as a 'step fracture' as a lot of people used to get them if they constantly knocked the same leg when climbing the steps up on to a bus). He's convinced it's purely muscular damage, has told me to carry on with anti-inflams (though just general Ibuprofen now rather than the heavy duty ones) and pain killers - but after 3 weeks of taking meds I'm doubtful these are really helping - and has given me some anti-inflam gel to rub directly onto the sore spot to see if that helps.

Other than that, apparently all I can do is "carry on as normal and see how it goes" - with instructions to go back in 2-3 weeks if it's still painful :o
