I think it's much better than the original one, it doesn't have new information just a much better explanation of the original information. It's more practical, has more real case study type examples. It's on the bestseller list already and on special offer in loads of places.

I am more a fan of SMART targets than any of this positive thinking attraction of good things thingamybob.
I have had far too many knock backs and I refuse to believe that its because I have been thinking negatively for 51% of the time, crap happens and sometimes its just rotten luck.
.........just my opinion though:oBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
Yeah, I like that kinda thing too Lou, I think it appeals to my A+B= C (were A = hard work/logic and B = decency/understanding, C = desired result!)
I did find Susan Jeffers very helpful tho, the affirmations (although you do feel like a total prat) help when having a tough time and her no lose decision idea is good. However I do think my "problems" stem from lack of organisation, procastination and a lack direction (which I now have a bit of )-these all need a concrete plan.
bed now. after seven more books Yawn

Kept this quiet huh!
Anyway thought i would add my tuppence worth. I remember not too long ago that we were neck and neck debtwise but given my change of employment circumstances my debt busting is on hold at the moment, so well done on getting it down so much. Just think when you are debt free it will be like releasing an albatross from around your neck.
Interesting debate on the power of positive thinking. I am 50/50 on the positive thinking attracts positive things but I do think that if you are a positive thinker you see the positives in most situations if you see what I mean.
Take me and OH for example....every New Year he says 'well that was a bad year!' and I am like 'it was?' - no one died, I love my kids, still have my home, we went on holiday'. He just sees the things we DIDN'T do.
Then I had a debate with my mum the other day who thinks that our lives are already planned out. I think your attitude to what life throws at you and how you deal with it AND LEARN from it determines how you progress in life. Actually although I was upset for a while when I was made redundant and went through a tribunal, I would shake that man by the hand if I met him in the street now. He changed the path on which I was heading down and I made some great friends on this forum.
I am currently reading (well listening) to a book on frogs.....Brian Tracy - Eat that Frog!!Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford

Morning
Great debate on the positive thinking thing, if I go into work with the clock watching attitude it clearly shows, there is a lot of sadness sometimes at work, times goes faster, people react differently if I'm happy. I'm not denying it's a mask sometimes but I work alongside some volunteers they do their job for nothing. I'd prefer them to go home thinking 'that was worthwhile' than regretting giving up their time.
There have been days when I walk in and before I've got my coat off I'm set upon with 'where's this' 'could you do that', not a good morning to be heard. That is the a bad start and I have to bite my tongue. I do think people are instantly affected by others moods, so I try.
The 51% theory is interesting, I'd like to think I hit that. I agree with you Louise, rotten luck likes to head my way to keep me on my toes and Sammy yes you do learn from that.
Great on the forward planning Buff. Especially as Easter is mentionedDC.

Specific - be clear on what you are trying to achieve
Measurable- have a time frame
Achievable- something with a concrete out come you can definitely say you have done it - like I will go to bed at 10 instead of I will go to bed early.
Realistic - is an actual possibility? ie could I become a professsional ballet dancer, er no. could I leanr ballet to a gradeable standard? yes.
Sometimes R stands for review- do you need to reassess your goals. Are they challenging enough?
Timed - have a time frame, so by Christmas I will weigh, I will have completed, etc.

I will persevere with the Secret. for a bit longer. not much mind you!!
Today I amlearning that I can cope with my job being the way it is. Tomorrow is Wednesday and I m therefore nearly at the weekend. That means I am one week down nearer the debt free date.
Do you remember AGES age I was trying to tell myself I had to do the work to get the money to pay the debts, once that was over I could take a lower paid job and work more for the love of it ? Well the first bit is finally sinking in !!!
Just got to get through till the end of March, which given how quick this year has gone is going to come round so fast.
xxxx
Hi Buffy,
I love your threads - I'm always learning something new and have a lot of time for your thoughts on Self-Help stuff.
I really relate to the point above - I hated work and found myself going in, keeping my head down, and coming out with the pay cheque because it just wasn't worth the emotional energy that I put in. If they didn't value me, then I would do the necessary and get the money. It was hard for me as I am not that sort of person, but like you, I focused on other things in my life (like becoming debt free and my relationship with OH) and it seemed to help balance things.
Things have changed and I will soon be starting a new job. I think I finally turned that corner but I am always a little wary of giving everything to a job now.
Hope the marking goes okay.
