Buffy's Adventures at the Post Office......

I don't think the real Buffy ever had any adventures at the Post Office, she did go to the Bank once for a loan but instead fought a Demon who was robbing the bank, she still didn't get the loan though. For me the Post Office(as well as the bank) is going to feature heavily in the debt free journey. Hopefully there won't be any demons.........
I am pretty much on the home stretch now, current debt stands at £7343.91. I am aiming to pay off 1000 each month and be done by the end of March 2011.That would be 14 months earlier then my original loan date.
I have taken a (very short!) break from keeping a diary and generally tried to cut down on MSE time whilst I focus on my life and real life friends. It was nice ......
However I have really missed the support, motivation and the friendship... Not to mention the second I don't report in my best friend the credit card gets to see a lot more of the world!
Also the dreaded work starts on Thursday and so I kiss my social life good bye to be sucked into my awful job. Awful it is but is the best thing to do to be debt free and have any hope of a deposit.
I have already decided to ask to go down to four days next year (Sept 2011). I figure that will give me time to do other things with out losing too much (plus I will be debt free by then so won't need so much money, will certainly appreciate the time tho). Hopefully the thought that this is my last full year will spur me on.
So why the Post Office reference?
Well the lovely people at the Post Office gave me a shiny credit card with 0% for 1 year. I am hoping to transfer my loan on to it in Oct/November thus saving some interest and making it easier to pay off. I currently have 570 pounds on there - summer spends:o.
I have two Post Offices near me, ideal for making weekly payments to the card and also ridiculously ideal for E bay.
Now to be honest I am e bay fraud. I have lots of experience........as a buyer - brillllllliant at buying me, can find any thing I want and some memorable things I don't want....(snails anyone?)
I don't have a huge amount of experience as a seller, i know the ropes but I find it SO boring.
The motivation to overcome the bordom is
1. If I am debt free by March then I can hand my notice in if things are really bad. Its 30 weeks. I can handle thirty weeks. I have a year planner on my desk and I will be crossing off the days.
2. I really want to get shot of my crap - sorry highly vaulable items that need homes that appreciate them
3. I want to build a fish pond....sad but true- no debt= money to buy fish pond.
The Rules
(for want of a better name)
1. one good weekend each month (Sept = Muse concert)
2. Post Office Every week Saturday- to post e bay stuff, pay coppers and change into bank and then pay off the cash to the credit card.
3. Take up running for exercise properly not just sometimes.
4. List one thing on ebay each day. Just one thing at a time.
5. Any spare money at the end of the month goes to the loan.
6. Continue with surveys, cashback and free scratches for extra cash.
7. Each month make time to regularly read a book, listen to music and chill out.
Right it is half one so this debt slayer must go to bed!
see you in the morning.
Buffy xx

I love your username and diary title!
My debt is similar to yours and I'm aiming to get rid of it by Christmas. Luckily, I've got some savings so I can throw them at the debt, the beauty for me is that by using savings and reducing spending it can be done by Christmas without paying interest. 0% deal on last credit card expires Dec.
My Post Office is lovely too and we really should use it more than we do. Conscious effort to start now. I need to start running again as well, I might see how you are doing and try and keep up. I did a half marathon 10 years ago, then it all petered out. I did say at the time never again, I was sick on the finish line.... but I did plan to 5k or 10k, I'll get training.
Hope the job isn't too terrible, good luck with the debt slaying!0 -
Looks like a solid balanced plan Buffy, you can do this.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Thank you guys xx
Right the plan starts tomorrow, I love a good first of the month to get stuff started. Had a fairly rotten day. went to work and did get stuff done but came home very stressed out, had a headache all day. Ended up coming home and falling asleep.
Done nothing tonight. Oh well.
going into work tomorrow.
As Beanie would say just keep plodding.
