Then shame on them for all their claptrap about ethics and accountability spouted on their website . It seems to have all the BS of the motability website.

Can't disagree, interesting though that they have so little mention of so many of their other business branches on the main site....
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Could you contact ISS about this pondlife harming their image if you have dealings with them? I am sure they would be pleased to have a little word with the scammers.

I will check but i dont think they even look after any car parks at all,I know for sure they dont look after any of the hospital car parks i go to (contract to iss myself and do around 3 days a week there)

Would be handy if i saw the ticket the logo is a dead give away if it is the same company

Their website is full of "management speak" gobbledygook, especially this page. The Plain English Campaign would have a field day!

  • Hi shopaholic2.

Myself and a friend have fallen victim to this retail park parking 'scam' just today, and were just wondering what was the conclusion with your experience? The fine doesn't mention the council, it states a VAT and Company Reg# (alarm bells!), says it "MUST" be paid in 28 days, but doesn't mention what happens if you don't, and if you don't contemplate or research your options and pay immediately within 48 hours you can take advantage of the End of Summer Parking Scam Sale and only get mugged for £15 instead of the full £30.

Any advice or updates would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Nothing has changed in PPC land. Just ignore them.

UtopiaOpera, nothing will have happened, just begging letters, that's how these scams work.

You could complain in writing to the Retail Park Manager about allowing a practice akin to a protection racket to take place. Make it clear you know fake PCNs are a well-known scam so you are not 'appealing' (there is no appeal) nor trying to excuse your own behaviour, just COMPLAIN about the PPC and tell them they have now lost the custom of you and your family, as a direct result of this scam.

Tell them their Managers should have checked out private parking companies - and the shocking debt collector threats that these charlatans all use to scare people - before they let them loose on their customers!

Show them the Watchdog link (mentioned below) if you complain by email, as well as scanned-in copies of the debt collector threats. The more complaints about these scammers the better.

Read the sticky threads (permanent info threads at the top of the current thread list on this parking sub-forum). And then read any other thread on the first page that takes your fancy, except threads about REAL parking tickets from Councils:

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163

You will soon be confident that you must just ignore the bogus PCN as it's a scam, it's NOT a fine. Definitely watch the Watchdog link (on 'Welcome, please read before posting') and check out the preview pics of the 'scary debt collector letter-chain' that you can look forward to filing in your drawer marked 'ignore, scam'. Pics on 'PPC letters, what to expect'.

I promise you that when you see the Watchdog clip (a must-see!) and then the preview thread with 'your' letter-chain in pics, you will understand that this is a scam. It cannot affect your credit rating, only defaults on credit agreements/proper debts can do that (or if a company goes to Court and wins and you don't pay, then you can get a CCJ). But that will NOT happen here - because this isn't a valid debt.

They rely instead on threats and the British public being uninformed that private companies cannot fine people. It is simple, ALWAYS simply ignore any private parking 'ticket' (parking charge notice). Only ever take seriously a ticket from the Police, TFL or a Council (a real Council one is called a Penalty Charge Notice).

    HTH
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • says it "MUST" be paid in 28 days, but doesn't mention what happens if you don't.

Yes, it MUST be paid within 28 days. I'll tell you why, the would-be creten at the other end awaiting payment has been promised by his boss that as long as payment arrives within 28 days, he gets a sweetie! ;)

Ignore the PPC and ignore the retail park which allowed them on site.
  • OK, thanks for the replies guys. I have just read through a few threads and stickies and feel like a bit of a wally now. Thanks for accommodating my newbieness. I'm sure you understand though; it's a bit of a worry contemplating possible repercussions by not paying a fine. Just going to drop a few keywords in case it might help others out searching Google: ISS, Ocean Plaza, Southport, Pier, Merseyside, Retail Park, Parking Fine, Penalty.

Once again, it's not a FINE! or a PENALTY!
