  • Another thing sort of ticked off the list - Harry & Rosie are now almost in production, I made a practice bear the other day. Results on the blog :)

Although other than H & R, I am feeling like a christmas break and will be doing a halloween activity next week, then back to christmas ones after that :)

Hello all, I've spent a lovely morning in the kitchen. I've made some muffins, fed my Christmas cakes and had an attempt at the cookie Christmas tree. Took a while to make and there's a few things I will do differently when I make them as gifts, but overall, I am happy with the result. :j

    Hi Sally,

I used the recipe from the back of the box, which is fine but I may add some spice to make it more Christmassy. I am also going to try green icing as per the box, or find something different to act as baubles to give it more colour. I will also make sure I roll the dough to a thickness of about 4mm as I made the largest ones first and they were thinner, hard to handle/keep in shape.

I would also leave out the glycerin from the royal icing so that it sets harder and make sure it has set before building up the tree - we are trying to eat it now and I am having to use a knife to separate the layers!

It took a while to make, but I now have a clearer idea, so would advise a trial run if you can find the time. HTH :)

SeaBee that biscuit cake looks great!

I have been getting very excited today planning some christmas crafts. I saw a xmas pudding doorstop in the M&S catalogue today that I am planning on crafting myself and when I have done I will be sure to post some pictures on here!

My housemates are going mad with my eagerness at Christmas crafting already... it's only October they say.... they are not going to enjoy the up and coming months!

Perhaps singing Christmas tunes was a step too far....

Nice to see someone who has tried this already. The only thing that I thought about if you leave the icing to set then how would it stay together?

    thanks :)

Thanks SeaBee - I've been trying to work out when I'd have time to make one of these as I can just see it'll be a HUGE job lol :)

How long did it take you to make it do you think? *pondering if I'll have time to make one on saturday morning lol*

I had thought to put a small blob of icing on each layer just to anchor it
