Well done elysia 2003 on the ol' chilli jam!! I've got to wait for some money to come in to get all the ingredients/jars
.
Heads up to anyone wanting some funky kilner jars!! I went to IK*EA this morning and got a kilner style, flip top bottle to put some blackberry vodka in ...it has a frosted star on each side- they also had jars like it and a storage jar for about 98p similar to the ones in As*da.:j They also have reindeer shaped pasta which is great for anyone doing xmas themed food hamper!! Also in As*da they had some plain canvas eco bags for about 80p each- might be good to write messages on/ put transfers on?! They were with the homeware stuff/ teatowels etc!Married in 2016. Bought our first home in 2017. Expecting our first baby in November 2017

:rotfl::rotfl:it so is !!!!!! for me lol, i could browse it all night long, hubby says he never sees me as excited as when i'm on etsy! all he hears is 'oh wow' look at this, look at that, i could make that..and then he gets an earfull as he's not getting as excited as i am :rotfl::rotfl: poor abused hubby.

elysia2003 wrote: »That's the recipe I have just made. :j It's just cooling before putting into jars in about half an hour. It looks absolutely wonderful.
I also have green tomatoes and onions prepared (have to salt them for 12 hours or so) ready for Green Tomato Chutney tomorrow. :A
I made Blackberry jam for christmas hampers and I've only 1 jar left because it is so scrummy.
Maybe a silly questions  but do green tomatoes actually taste different from the red ones? xBlogger / Money SaverMake £2022 in 2022 Challenge - Accepted0 -

Wow that is amazing, i think it looks hard but i'm always up for a challenge
I know once i have spent hours on it, that ill be batting little hands away from destroying it by eating the sweeties, my DS's will all be told 'Do you know how long that took me?'Blogger / Money SaverMake £2022 in 2022 Challenge - Accepted0 -
:staradmin Fabric Covered Diary/Journal Tutorial :staradmin
*this is a super easy gift to make a really cheap to make*
You will need:
*A diairy/notebook/journal etc (poundland or asda's are great, asda's 2 for 1, they are black and red)
*Glue (the one out of poundland , yellow box, is fab and super strong)
*Ribbon/string/twine/jute/elastic etc.... (optional)
*Fabric (slightly larger than the diary/notebook purchased)
*scissors
*pen
Instructions
1. Open out your journal or notebook flat ontop of your fabric,
2.Draw around the book with a pen so you are marking the fabric.
3.Cut out your fabric, generally about 1 inch larger than your pen marks on all sides (although it can be raggy as it will be hidden)
4. lay your notebook down again flat on the fabric on the wrong side.
5.Add glue to the front inside of the book (the left side of the book)
6.Pull the fabric tight and fold onto the glue.
7.Make a snip in the bottom of the fabric, central to the book spine
8.Glue the bottom of the inside cover and fold the fabric over onto the glue (like wrapping a xmas gift)
9.Make a snip in the fabric central to the spine on the top (cut to the line you made when drawing around the book)
10. Glue the top of the inside cover and pulling the fabric tight, press it down onto the glue.
11. Close the journal pushing down to secure the glue'd parts.
12. Time for the back cover now, glue the right side edge of the back page
13. Elevate the back page while pulling the fabric onto the glue, (this is so it closes without ruffling, if you have the back page flat when gluing it will become too tight and will pull the fabric,)
14. Glue the other 3 sides too, making sure the fabric is pulled tight and is covering all the front and back visible pages.
15. If choosing a ribbon tie closure, take 2 small lengths of ribbon, on the front page (you should be viewing the inside cover with the glue'd fabrics on the corners) halfway down the page, make a mark with pen and glue the ribbon horizontally on the page at the pen mark (you should have half the ribbon on the inside and the outside of the journal now.
16. Do the same for the back page, making sure you glue at the same point as the first page, so they match equally.
17. Now cover the first page with glue and press the first paper page down onto the fabric page, smoothing it out so you get no ripples or bubbles.
18. Do the same for the back page, elevating it slightly so it doesn't pull or tear the page. (the pages that have been glue'd down should now cover the inside half of the ribbons and the glue'd fabric edges, You should now only see the fabric on the outside of the book and upon opening you wil see a blank white page)
19. Close the book and press down hard to secure all glue'd parts,
20. tie the ribbon into a bow :T
*** if choosing elastic, take a length of elastic and instead of glueing horizontally, place the elastic down vertically , place the notebook central ontop of the elastic and glue the 2 ends of elastic to the top and bottom of the first cover. the finished result wll then allow you to pull the elastic over the front and back pages for closure ***
I will upload the pics later and try to do a picture tutorial over the next day or so for anyone who doesn't understand the tutorial above (i am terrrible at describing things ) :rotfl:Blogger / Money SaverMake £2022 in 2022 Challenge - Accepted0 -

Is anyone else doing the xmas eve hampers this year?
Had thought of it but thats as far as I got everyone keeps putting more ideas my list is getting very long might do one with new Pyjamas and maybe a dvd and some choccies for us all:D
gingerandrubarb Thanks for the tutorial thats going to be the next project anyone know where I can get some cheap material?:jmember of the thrifty gifty 2011 :j0 -
ginger - thats how I cover my journals...........always do one for myself, print off months of the year and stick them on relevant pages and first page is always my new years resolutions...........lol Not doing too bad this year.
The ones I've done for friends I've left out the months so the journal can be used to writing down thoughts/feelings.......whatever they want. I usually try and glue a ribbon so I've got a sort of bookmark and tie a ribbon round it to keep it all ''together''.
I've done them with ring back notebooks and tied bits of ribbon to the ring back binder but its so fiddly to try and cover the front and back inbetween the rings. I love them........normally do one as a gardening journal as well.............think last year I used some kitchen curtains I'd got.........lol:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
