Not sure if I'm going to give many out- I'm only making a small batch! If they're good I will use them for gifts. I'm going to make some chilli jam in the next couple of weeks.

Hi,
I've been following this thread but haven't posted yet. Thanks to everyone for the great ideas. I'm looking forward to saving some money this xmas!
gingerandrubarb I'm sorry to burden you but I LOVE the idea of your fabric diary (do you have a pic?) and I really want to make one for my stepmum but I haven't a CLUE where to start and haven't had much luck with google so far!
Do you have any links / tutorials you could share? I love the idea of doing something personal and special for her.
Many thanks for your tips so far.Laura

I've decided what I'm going to do for my boyfriend for Christmas. He's moving into a single room in a shared building (so several tennents share bathrooms and kitchens) so he's not going to have a lot of room. So I decided to buy a simple photo frame, take a photograph of myself holding up a message and insert it. I'm going to decorate the frame with interchangable images. I'll try and explain: I'm going to print off and cut out small images, photographs and messages, mount them onto thin card and attach velcro to the back. I'll put the other side of the velcro in various places around the frame! So he can swap and change the decorations on the frame. It's quite a simple idea but I think he'll like it and I'm quite excited to put it all together! I'll probably get him a couple of small bits too to go with it but I've not thought about that yet.
:Tthats a great idea! i wonder who i could steal it for! lol! im sure he'll love it.Cc debt; £4950 Tesco - £3.37 Boots - £3.94 £2 pot - £0.00 Sealed pot NO40 - £7.87 no spend days jan-3/31 £2 savers = £60 -

No burden hunny, Ill post the pics tomorrow, but i got hard front notebooks (2 for £1 asda) and a 2011 page a day diary from poundland, then i got fabrics i thought my cousin would love and covered the books i then glued some ribbon horizontally (with little hearts on) on the front and back pages and then glue'd the first paper page to the front cover (hides the fabric edges and secures the ribbon) and closed the book tying the ribbons in a bow.
The diary i also added a ribbon so you can mark the days .. really easy to do and so personal, I was thinking of embroidering some jute with 2011 in cute writing and gluing onto the diary cover. xBlogger / Money SaverMake £2022 in 2022 Challenge - Accepted0 -
Hey gingerandrhubarb,
The Chilli jam is a nigella xmas recipe I think. I've never made it but some lovely people on one of the other xmassy boards were talking about it and it sounds scrummy. I've got a link below but I think there's some pop ups!! http://en.petitchef.com/recipes/chilli-jam-fid-267388
As it is an N Lawson spectacular I'm sure it'll taste awesome!! I love the jewel colour of it...there's probably a poem that would suit it too!!Married in 2016. Bought our first home in 2017. Expecting our first baby in November 2017

Midnightraven3 is right, they are tictacs, gave them to my dad as a jokey pressie as he's always stressed at work! He said he got a lot of funny looks when he busted them out and took a handful! I used a baby food jar and just decorated it
Thanks I thought it might be well was hoping it was as DD2 loves tick tacs and we are always telling her to calm down and chill so they would be a great stocking filler:D
I have finished my Godsons Nappy cake tonight he is only 5 months so thought it would be ideal for him for his xmas pressie and it was my first time making one but it turned out ok:jmember of the thrifty gifty 2011 :j0
