Good old poundland :dance:Irecently got baskets, craft papers, brown postal wrap for wrapping pressies, the rolo type chocolate mould and tissue paper and some glasses and those little espresso cups and saucers and tea pot for turning into candles :T
i plan on using the rolo type choc mould with some pmc to make silver 'my last rolo's' for birthdays :D

    I heart poundland!

What you hoping to purchase hunny x

I LOVE the silver rolo idea  i've always wanted to buy my other half one but they are so expensive! Where would you get the pmc from? I'm on the hunt for a rolo mould now :D I'm hoping to find some white fluffy socks for my clouds, small toys for the stones, and sweets, popcorn and drinks for my movie hampers, and anything else i can make some use of! I might buy some cushions and make some covers for xmas eve hampers.... i think i need to take out a small mortgage!
Man who run into airport turn-styles is going to Bangkok

:rotfl::rotfl:I'm the same, i pull in hubby by saying 'i need shampoo, ill be in and out' 20 mins later and ive got 3 bags full :rotfl:
you can get pmc (precious metal clay) from most craft places or Ebay, Amazon etc..
You would also need a creme brulee torch but you can get them cheaply from most places and a firing block (£1-2 on Ebay) It's just like using normal clay, roll, push into the mould, pop out and fire it (round in circles) with the creme brulee torch (burns away the clay leaving fine 925 particles, so pure sterling silver)
They have a deep heart mould and a rolo looking choc one, I have always wanted the my last rolo but as you said they are soooo expensive, this way you can make a whole tray full for less than £10 all in including the pmc, firing block and mould etc...
I'd imagine they would also be good sellers for xmas 2011 if your friends where wanting to purchase them :j or even ebay.. a nice little box, some gold sweetie wrapping foils and a little poem or card and it would be an amazing gift! you could add in a screw hook (like the ones for voile panels etc) and turn it into a pendant :T or use as charms
I think it's £6 or £7 for the pmc (but it goes a long way) I am planning on purchasing it very soon so i may have some left for you to make 1 rolo size, i'll keep you posted hunny x

The Chirstmas Eve hamper is a lovely idea. Christmas day is such a chaotic day in our house (we have 6 boys), to the point that I was making the Christmas dinner with with a screwdriver in one hand, and a packet of AA batteries in the other! About 5 years ago I went down with a horrid sickness bug just as santa was doing his thing *wink* and ended up in bed all day Christmas Day. As a result, we had Christmas Dinner on Boxing Day, and it was the most relaxed Christmas Dinner we'd ever had, and the children were delighted that they got to have Pizza and chocolates for dinner on Christmas day! Now I do Christmas Dinner on Boxing Day every year, which means I get to see the children open all their presents, and we get to really enjoy the day as a family with lots of family games, and a Christmas film. We watch the film 'It's a Wonderful Life' on Christmas Eve, just before the children go up to bed.

What I've also done for them every Boxing Day, to soften the come-down from Christmas Day excitement, is we have a 'Lucky Dip'. I save bits and pieces throughout the year, and wrap them up individually. They can range from sweets, pencils, wooden spoons, keyrings, etc., all put in a large cardboard box covered in wrapping paper with a dipping hole. Going in age order (youngest to oldest) we take it in turns to have a dip, open the gift, and add it to our 'pile'. At the end of the dipping, we can then barter with one another to do swaps, so I'll trade 2 mini Mars bars and a pencil for a set of post-it notes, etc. it's great fun, takes best part of an hour to do the dipping, and the kids love the bartering. I get nagged senseless about 'are we doing lucky dip on Boxing Day?' by all our boys, and the eldest are 18!

I had an idea about using clear pint glasses inside cellophane tied up with ribbon, for the snowman soup. I might even paint a festive decoration on the plastic glasses with acrylic paints that I have already, or put them in festive painted terracotta pots, which I've done before (will post some pics). The heart shaped ice cube trays are now 25p in Sainsburys, so I bought 2 more! I've also bought wooden scewers to make the chocolate stirrers... might make heart shaped ones of those too.

We put Santa & Rudolph's Christmas Eve snacks in these, and then use as bonbon/nut dishes after:

Just an idea for christmas eve hamper.......last year I'd got some small seed pots -bright red- and felt there should be a use for them. OH suggested putting bird seed in them (had to wrap it in cling film so it wouldn't spill out) glueing a little robin to the top (the sort you get for putting on cakes) and that was robin redbreasts christmas breakfast and my little grandson had to put it out on Christmas morning before he could open his presents. I'd done christmas eve hamper the year before -used gravy tub for reindeer food (just stuck label on it), flannel with reindeer stitched on, bath stuff with a snowman stuck on it, (he had to have a bath using these otherwise santa wouldn't come) and did a 'Santa stop here' door knob hanger and a flannel reindeer. Found a christmas paper plate to leave out for santa with mince pies on and make a chocolate drink mix to be left out as well.
My son just tops up the reindeer food and the bird seed.

    Love those jelly babies..........what a novel idea:T
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Aww thanks!
Yes, I painted all of them. The plates are just plain terracotta saucers, like you get from any DIY store or garden centre. I paint them with acrylic paints, and then use a clear varnish as a glaze to seal & protect over them. They're then fine for giving a wash by hand in soapy water.

I've been doing these for years, and do others for using in the garden and around the home. The paint isn't completely frost-proof, so not ideal for harsh weather conditions.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: come to think of it, the 99p store at Bognor had benches outside too - must be universal
