Hi She Grinch, I found this mould on ebay, very reasonably priced at £2.60 inc postage http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Jelly-Baby-2-1-soap-mould-mold-High-impact-plastic-/160480044536
I would think that a glycerine soap makes the most attractive, but I'm no soap maker myself, so I'd just google a few recipes to find one you fancy trying, or I'm sure some of the contributors here have various ones to suggest.

  • I've found a lovely recipe for Melting Middle Truffles. http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/8272/melting-middle-truffles
    They look gorgeous :

The ingredient dulce de leche is easily found in the Co-Op, it's about £2 in cans by Carnation. If you want to make your own, you can use sweetened condensed milk, pierce the can, and simmer for an hour or so (longer if you want it thicker), as you would to make banoffee pie. I like the fact that these can be made a month in advance, and frozen.

I saw an image today of some snowy truffles, rolled in icing sugar, which had been put into pretty organza pouches, tied up with ribbon. I thought that would look quite luxurious as a gift.

  • Here's the link to the page of Kirstie's Homemade Christmas page on Channel 4.
    http://www.channel4.com/4homes/on-tv/kirstie-s-homemade-home/
The videos aren't available to watch on there, but there are pictures, and how to's, and there's also other links about decorations and recipes. Lots of ideas and resources there, and looks like there's going to be another series this year, but it was a bit too late in the season for me. These things take time, and need planning, as well we know.
