We're another £40 down on meat and veg boxes today and foresee a visit to Mr T over the weekend! Think we'll come in under still if I'm very good for the next couple of weeks.
Must get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!
  • I have had 3 nsd since my last supermarket trip :D

Have to go to Mr A later to return something so will have a look at the whoopsies and pick up the fruit, veg and milk we need. Should then have a no spend weekend :jI need to keep my spends as low as possible as, having stocked up so much at the start of the month, I'm getting seriously close to my target.

    Have a lovely weekend all.

Good girl. Yes :D she is called penny. You wouldn't think she was a ferrel when I got her would you? She is very docile now. How did you get the apple juice cheese and biscuits for nowt? That's the type of shopping I like :D
    Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.79
  • I received the Moreasons flyer with the free paper yest, went today and bought:- 2 family jars of dolmio for £3, 10 Muller corner yogs for £2, and two of the small bisto for £1-50. The yogs are good until mid Oct so should get through them before the date. A total spend of £8 with some other bits. The huge dolmio will be good for bulk cook ups and the yogs for lunches at work.

Lets keep motivating, and ignoring the idiots who can't see why we do what we do. We will live in bigger houses, drive nicer cars and live fuller lives thru our thrifty nature now. We don't scrimp, we just don't waste!

Oh was also very annoyed... went to my local butcher, asked for some ham hocks thinking yummy cheap meat etc... reply..

'Oh we don't do those anymore people don't eat that kind of thing now' Mmmm I would if I could buy it, were not even interested in ordering me some in!

Absolutely appalling service Shysarah! What sort of butcher is he? OH regularly gets the odd hock from ours and as you say it's cheap and tasty. He can even persuade me to have a bit of it once he's removed every last bit of fat and skin! (We even refer to ourselves as Mr & Mrs Jack Spratt sometimes! :o :rotfl:)

    Well hi all,

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, it's just been a bit chaotic. I have managed to read but posting, no.

I hope you're feeling better Hippeechiq, that sounds like very trying and emotional times and I can understand you being down. You could try repeating /screaming "hormones are hell".

OK, shopped a couple of times this week and had a couple of NSD.

On Tuesday had to get kitten food from the pet shop so £12.99 spent there (we're honouring the small packs they had ordered in for us).

On Wednesday I spent £10.63 at Mr T which incluided some more plastic containers for the blackberries that OH is getting each day. Each container holds about 12 ounces so each one is just right for a tart or crumble for two over two days.

Also included were a couple of packs of Pains au Raisins as they're on offer at £1.50 for two packs so I stocked up in the freezer with them. I have tried other makes and stores own but can't find any as nice as these. Actually, the MrS ones I bought and wasn't keen on were going to stagnate in the freezer but I made them into a bread and butter pudding with the addition of some sultanas, raisins, demerara, couple of eggs and about 3/4 pint of milk. Scrummy. :D

Then today I went back to Mr T to get more milk (we seem to all of a sudden be going through it really quick, must be OH being at home), butter, yogs and some other bits we needed. So that came to £23.87. I also got a couple of the large boxes of Lindor chocolates for the C-word cupboard. These were £9.98 but are not included in my total as I'm running a separate C-word Goodies account. All normal stuff for the occasion will come out of GC budget but goodies like chocolates, etc that we don't normally buy will go on to the other account.

All in all then we're standing at £166.08 out of our £240 budget. Bit more than I would have liked and could be pushing it this month. We'll probably get some meat tomorrow but I don't know whether OH will be buying from his pocket money again so will have to see!

Seeing some fantastic results on here at the moment, so well done all of you. Especially pleasing are the comments from our newbies who are already seeing a difference in their spends and habits. Wonderful! :T Keep up the great work.

And even if you go over the budget, don't fret too much. Just think what it would be if you weren't watching! ;)

Right better get off and update my sig. Have a great evening and weekend.

    Take care,
    Spigs

  • Have decided that the best way to cope with DH pay date change is to do a weekly grocery challenge so for rest of Sept I am aiming for £50.00 a week so put me down for £100.00 please-that will take me to 1st Oct which is a Friday and two weeks before next pay day.

    Off to update signature now!
  • another £35 to report - rapidly reaching my budget (may have exceeded it - haven't added up yet) :( and still another week to go! never mind, I am working hard at only buying what I need, bulk cooking, meal planning (what a lifesaver - how did I cope before I meal planned??) etc but the price of food seems to be going through the roof atm. anyway, night in with my best friend tonight as both our DH's have gone out on a stag do :) I've made HM pizza with garlic bread + HM coleslaw and have some smirnoff ices chilling in the fridge :D all the best everyone + thanks for the inspiration! x
