Hello folks, had to go to Tesco today was hoping to wait another few days but needs must, so thats another £45 to the total for the month. A bit ahead but have plenty of things in so should just be fresh stuff eg milkk and veg for the next two weeks Have just gone through the fridge and was about to throw out an old cauli and some past it broccolli but decided to make a soup with them and I have to say it is delicious, just chopped them up with two pint of chicken stock salt and pepper and an onion and simmered for half an hour and whizzed with the hand blender. In the past these two things would have ended up in the bin, but there is so much less waste in this house now. I will freeze half of it for another night when its cold and horrible outside.
I have a small chest freezer in the garage and a six drawer upright in the house. OH switched the electric off one day by mistake so I had no option but to clean it out so its well organised I just have to find some time to clear out the one in the house. In the past I have lists on the outside detailing whats in each compartment/drawer - and it made such a difference we used things up rather than just pulling out what came first.Every days a School day!0 -

Loopy-loo remember if you are in Scotland ask for Direct care for your kids from your pharmacy, this is where you dont have to pay for any non-prescription medicines to deal with an illness - including calpol for the kids, and also if you are entitled to free presciptions you can access this service too. I dont know if this runs in England/Wales maybe someone else can advise. It certainly makes a difference to us up in Scotland when kids or oldies etc are poorly.Every days a School day!0

Really must stop going to the supermarket.. total for the month is now £66.38...!!! Only £18.62 left.. yikes.
Think I'm gonna have to start meal planning and clear out the cupboards.
Will put this in my sig now so I can keep an eye on it.. Am aiming for all groccery NSDs for the rest of the week.0 -
I usually do 1/2 milk and 1/2 water moniker. I've never measured my ingredients in yorkshire (grandma taught me how) so I'm afraid I can't be very precise with ml
.
You'll know if you've put too much water in it because you won't be able to get it out of the oven  :rotfl: it'll be a monster (yes, I'm speaking from experience).
Thanks, I'll try it next time!

Homemade Bread/pizza bases - if you sprinkle the top of the bread or edges of pizza with semolina before cooking, it makes a lovely crispy crust.0

Evening all! Another NSD for me. Had to get more fruit yesterday, but DD1 picked it up in the market on her way home from work and wouldn't take the money for it - and as she isn't paying any rent at the moment I didn't argue! She is cooking tomorrow and we will need some mushrooms so I am hoping to pull the same trick! Won't be doing any more food shopping until Thursday, so looking good so far.
Better get off here - DH has gone to bed and it's unheard of for me to still be at the computer after him!
Welcome to the newbies and the returners. Keep up the good work everyone.
