Hi can i join in this month please with a budget of £200 for september. This is for 2 adults, 2 children with hollow legs a giant bottomless pit of a dog, various other smaller pets. This includes everything pet accessories, cleaning and toileteries.
It's going to be tough but HAS to be done if i can hope to afford christmas this year.

Welcome loulou0327  and all the very best for your challenge,

Please would you edit your post (or just do a new one) so that your budget amount is in large red letters/numbers? You can do this by using the advanced post button where you can set the font at a minimum of four and choose red font. Then when MRSMCCAWBER comes on she'll easily see you and add you to the list.

We just popped out to get the milk and a few bits for OH for when I'm in work tomorrow. £6.73 spent and the sig is updated.

    Take care,
    Spigs

I mix whiskas biscuits with Asda's own, they don't seem to notice. Felix pouches are still on offer at Asda, 48 for £10. I will post if I spot a good deal anywhere. We fussy cat owners need to stick together. :)

Asda are also doing 24 whiskas for £5 and 48 Felix for £10. My cats wont eat the felix or anything else but whiskers and above. My fault I suppose because I feed it to them!

Pets at home sometimes do some good deals. They deliver free over £30 so if you buy it in bulk, it is cheaper!

  • Feeling rather cross with myself as I spent loads yesterday. £70 odd in Tescos, £40 in Sainsburys, £8 at the market and £13 at the Co Op. This included quite a few toiletries which I realised don't get added onto my total spends if they are purchased at Boots instead of a supermarket like they were yesterday. I bought 2 x packets of Richmond sausages (which OH's kids eat a lot of) for £5 in Tescos and then realised that they were on offer in the Co Op for £2 each so that was a pretty rubbish offer at Tescos!

I also bought red lentils, green lentils and some of the soya mince that you hydrate that was mentioned earlier. I now need though to make sure that I actually use these things! I did put red lentils ina spag bol once and the kids did notice the difference but this was maybe due to it a being thicker than normal cos of the lentils soaking up the liquid. I can't use oats to bulk out anything as my son who has Coeliac disease is not meant to have oats.

I will need more bread, milk and potatoes at some point plus I suppose F & v, although we do currently have quite a bit but I really do need to try and not buy anything other than that. I am quite shocked at how quickly and by how much my spends have jumped when only a few days ago, I felt that I was doing ok.

lucky for me, my poor cat (dave) has come to realise that if he doesnt eat the wilko's/tescos own brand then kitty kitty wont get anything! he sits hiding under the dishwasher door, waiting for me to leave the kitchen before he jumps IN the dishwasher to lick the plates! yuk! naughty dave! he goes through 3 pouches and a 1/4 box of biscuits a day, he's constantly crying for food so glad its only the cheap stuff. i gave him the remainder of my chicken last night and he obviously loved it as he thought a suitable 'present' to bring me after a few hours hunting, was a HUGE black spider and drop it on my foot! no din dins for dave tonight :D

    Hi Hippeechiq,

Thanks for asking. We're more or less over the shell shock now - hit us both for six how close he came. I'm getting on fine with injecting him which will only continue until his numbers are ok. They reckon he'll be on warfarin for 6-12 months. Mind you, if he doesn't do everything they say then he is well aware he could be on it for life. We're both still dog tired but thats probably a hangover from emotional stress and the like. We're getting there and that's what is important. Along with the support we've had from family, friends and you lovely people on the thread! :A

I am pleased to hear that :) It must have been such a shock, and shock/fear/worry all sap your energy. Now the immediate danger is over hopefully you'll be able to relax a little and return to feeling more like your old selves :)

RIGHT! I've totally fell off the bandwagon today £10 spend in M & S, £30 Spend in Boots for toiletries AND I have to go out to Asda as I don't have everything I need!*Sigh*

    Me n you both wssla00 :(

I don't know what's happened - I've broken all my own rules fgs!

I've deviated from my menu plan, and I've taken £9 from next weeks cash envelope for the week we've just had, which now only leaves me £16 for the coming week for fresh f&v, meat, bread and milk, and other little bits I need that are cheaper in Te$co than getting them from my online shop with A$da on Wednesday

I really both wanted and needed both of my online shops this month to be around £60max including delivery but I can't get this first one below £65 despite shuffling things around......well, I could, obviously, by removing items from the trolley, but I need everything in it.

I think I've got to be honest with myself and admit that I need more cheapie meals in my menu plan. Life would be much easier & cheaper if I was confident in trying to bulk meals out, but I'm not, not without and exact recipe/amount to follow. I need to know how much a handful weighs, and how much extra liquid I need to add etc., etc., it's rubbish I know, but it's how I cook :o ......those of you who are able to just throw things into a meal and have it turn out ok don't know how lucky you are.

......sorry everyone....just feeling a bit fed up with things today

So - total spend so far for September £43.93 and my first NSD of the month today.

By the way - does anyone know if £idl sell a decent strength/flavour/quality coffee? (not Gold Blend) OH & I like Kenco Rich Roast and it would be really helpful if I could find something equally as nice, but cheaper. I realise some of you may think Kenco Coffee is a luxury, but I refuse to compromise on the flavour/quality of my Coffee. However, I'm not too proud to pay less for it :D

We both need to look on the bright side :) At least we know we have gone off the bandwagon rather than not even noticing!

I'm hoping I will be alright. I am away this week for work and then after that have everything in the house for the rest of the month. Also have a lot of new things popping up in the garden so hopefully should be alright!

I am going to have a really easy dinner tonight of either poached eggs or beans on toast. My tooth is playing up so just want some comfort food :)

I have spicy split pea soup in the slow cooker, and will make a wholemeal loaf as well a bit later too.

    Have a good night all

  • Top up of fruit, potatoes, bread and milk in netto and farmfoods today. Its netto birthday week from tomorrow so they have offers in all week.

On the topic of cats, we have 3 fussy ones, weve monthly shopped this week and they have all tesco pouches as nothing was on offer, so have substitued 2 boxes of pouches for 7 tins of whiskas to see if they eat it as it works out cheaper. They are on strike with the tesco biscuits!!
