Good Morning all!! Well I have been up for about half an hour and I'm just finishing my first cuppa. Pottered and done a few bits of dishes etc. DS had an accident last night so I need to totally strip and wash his bed and as its chucking it down outside I will need to tumble it to get it dry for tonight (well the duvet anyway). The weather also means that I shouldnt be venturing too far so it should be a NSD for me
and I will be able to get some of the things (by things I mean cleaning
) done at home that are desperately needed!!
Got all the good I need for the day out the freezer and into the fridge last night so dont even need anything for that. Feeling quite organised today even though I'm not even dressed :rotfl:

Youngmummy, welcome to the GC
When you`ve decided how much you are going to spend for the month/week type it here in big red letters so that Mrs Mcawber will see it and add you to the list on the front page.

morning all
getting dangerously close to my budget end. But it was only my first month GC so had to test the water really. Ive gone from spending about £500pm to £300pm so if I go a little over thats still a massive achievement. And with my great new spreadsheet I can see exactly what I have spend it on. And yesterday HAD to buy a new coat. My old one is way about 6 years old and in its twilight years now.Happy days

Morning, well i've been doing a bit of batch cooking again yesterday.
Made lots of pastry, well i made too much by mistake:o.
So instead of more chicken and bacon pasties, i made a huge chicken and bacon pie which fed us all for our tea yesterday with a quarter left over.
Then i made four mini quiches for boys pack ups and a large quiche either for OH's pack up or for our dinner. Still have some pasties and pastries left form monday. So i think the boys should be fine till friday. So that's this week sorted. OH has accepted the lack of cheese in his sandwiches so far, he's now faced up to reality.
We also now have 1/2 loaf of bread (prob use for tea) and 8 buns left (i made new ones) so will do us this friday.
I forced the boys to have egg mayonnaise with me and OH, they both admitted they now like it.Typical every other time its sneakily shot in the bin. Maybe it was the promise of tuna mayo today.
Just made a big lump of seafood red thai curry, tandoori spinach, nanns and rice. THere's loads so should do a couple of meals.
The above which i made on Minday has all dispeared, apparently it was too nice to be kept. I'm shocked to be honest. Didn't expect a 6yr and 10 yr old to scoff two adults portions each:eek: of very hot/spicy red thai curry!
But its all good.
Making HM fishcakes today with the leftover mash from yesterday. Going to make them up and shot them in freezer. Not sure what were having tonight. Just going to check and see what needs using in the fridge.0 -
I got bread and milk last night, and treated myself to a fruit duck as I was alte and worn out. DH had dinner ready as I got in - hot dogs with leftover mash and caulflower cheese reheated in the oven with an onion and extra seasoning (his speciality for the mash - with the addition of the cauli was new but interesting - good interesting).
I DID remember to get some chicken out of the freeszer to do something tonight. Not a clue what yet. May even make a casserole as DH is not due until late.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

ooh just seen this thread, can I join in too, is it too late for this month though? I really need to cut down on my grocery spend each month and when I try and budget I'm really rubbish and always go over.
I need help! (2 adults and 2 children - 1 x 12 year old and 1 x 16!)

I guess everyone will find something different works best for them but this is what I do (it's very basic):
I allow myself an extra weeks allowance for the final Christmas shop and take my Hubby with me so we can get a trolley each (because we buy so much and also have kids in the seats). We go very early on the last shopping day before xmas eve.
I've found this works best for me as in years gone by when I bought good deals in advance I found that everything was eaten before Christmas and just needed buying again last minute anyway (chocs, cakes, treats etc - oops:o). Also, this close to the day there are usually loads of bargains anyway. We buy so much as we have lots of visitors over the xmas/new year week, I have to get loads of treats and alcohol too. My only exceptions to this are the Turkey (wouldn't want to risk not getting one), the Christmas cake and pudding (I make my own). Also by buying last minute the fruit and veg is as fresh as I can get (can't shop on xmas eve as it's my mom's birthday and a big family get together:beer:).
Hope it helps as an idea - this is just for the groceries though, presents are obviously bought earlier than this!;).
Thank you for this advice it is much appreciated. I think I am going to try and set aside an amount for Christmas Food Shopping and Alcohol and work it that way. Plus as you said do it all the week before. I just know I want to stick to my budget and not get carried away or buy loads that gets wasted. I normally like to do a bit every week but then himself munchies the goodies!
Success at Puppy school on Monday she got a rosette for being 5th... it was competition night which is lovely but it was only her 3rd night there... and u guessed it there were 5 in the class.
CRAFTYSCHOLAR and HEDGESPARROW I am a member of the coop and paid a £1 dividend to join and yep you do have the right to vote if you wish when they send the ballot papers out and you get extra points for using co-op travelcare, buying a will (I used them not expensive), banking as well as points for shopping. I do odd top up shops (too expensive for weekly shops) there as my nearest one is a little walk, and its amazing how quickly points add up and how generous there vouchers are. Definitely worth joining.:A Want2Bdebtfree
