  • Okay, Final shop of the month done at Mr T... I only need £4 to buy a few bits next week...!

Spent £46.29... then realised that half my stuff was squashed or split... saved as much as I could by re bottling some damaged stuff... and got a £5.10 refund!

Although as they squashed 1/3 of 3 loaves... I may need to buy another loaf next week!

    Brains of Britain!!
We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy!

boultdj, just as a matter of interest, i've noticed you use dollar signs rather than £ signs when you post about money...is that because you work things out in dollars or because your £ key doesn't work or is there some other reason. :)
    It's cause me pound sign doesn't work.:o

Doing well using food from the freezer, today it was some belly pork and yesterday was some chicken. Only thing is that my uncle has given me a load of cooking apples so will have to freeze them. Luckily mum has some room in her freezer so its not a problem.

Have made some soup today with some sad looking veg - celery, mushrooms, pak choi, and added some chicken and noodles to it, so tomorrow just need some crusty bread and we will have that for our lunch. Tea will be fish in a leek, white wine and cream sauce with some potatoes and green beans - we have a huge amount of them and they are about the only veg we dont like once they have been frozen :(

Just added up receipts and have spent £14.22 since last update, that was on white wine, cream, a big bag of mussels, flowers and some lemons. Not to bad as got two large bunches of flowers which were reduced. One taken up the cemetary for our beautiful daughter and the other one for the house in front of her photo.

Have to do a meal plan tomorrow and a shopping list ready for either Thursday or Friday.

Have now spent £62.94 / £160 so very doable this month and realise should have budgeted even less with us being away for some of the month. Never mind at least we wont be over budget and will hopefully get at least one christmas present with whats left.
    MARCH £62.38/250

I've got 2 carrier bags of apples from my Dad to deal with, and no room in my freezers

So I'm going to use some of the (many) jars my DD and I have collected over the last 12 months and "bottle" them this year :)

  • Had two deliveries today; one from Tesco £76.60 and one from Dan ApFd. £18.59. Have enough bread mix and rice to last a couple of months! Also some 99p Lloyd Grosman sauces.:)

Am hoping that I will only need fresh fruit, veg and some milk for the rest of this month (18th - 17th). I have enough meat etc in the freezer to make up my meal plans for the month so fingers crossed.

Ofcourse last month I thought everything would be ok but had
3 extra expenses; a new freezer, new shoes and £68 to sort out computer! Although not included in grocery challenge they still have to come out of the same pot of money. Thanks to the encouragement:T received here there was some 'spare' cash to pay for these essentials.

I find I now think twice (or even 4 times!) before buying something as I know I will have to 'put it down' . I have learnt sooooo much from you all.:A I even have a separate fund for Christmas and have worked out a rough budget for our spending. This is the first time I have done this. Normally I just keep buying all those 'oh isn't that lovely/useful/fun/someone might like it items' and get a shock in January not only with the cost but the amount of food we haven't eaten or things we still have. This year will be different:rotfl:at least that is the plan! And I am reasonably optimistic that I will be able to stick to it. So good luck everyone - for the most expensive time of the year is fast approaching.

Not updated on my spending since 13th - Oops!

14th saw a couple of Whoopsie spends - a total of 18 'Best' sausages (9 meals worth) and 16 'normal' sausages (8 portions of sausage casserole) for £3.96 instead of £9.02 and two boxes of Lemon Cupcakes at 25p/box instead of £1.29.

15th saw more Whoopsie extravaganies - a pack of 2 Lemon Drizzle muffins (nothing to write home about, so won't bother again) for 19p instead of £1.39. and a gorgeous cheesecake for 49p instead of £3.99

19th saw the purchase of a further 10 Mvller Corners before the '10 for £2' offer ended

20th was a bag of frozen sweetcorn (£1)
