    Spent $11.16 in Mr.M's yesterday.

boultdj, just as a matter of interest, i've noticed you use dollar signs rather than £ signs when you post about money...is that because you work things out in dollars or because your £ key doesn't work or is there some other reason. :)

Meant to add....we ate from the garden for our tea...the last courgette, a handful of just turning dark orange teeny tomatoes, the last of the french beans, the one teeny aubergine that i successfully grew ...stirfried in a red thai sauce (a 10p sachet of it) and a microwave pack of rice that needed using up (25p). Fed me and DD and we had homemade apple pie for dessert.

Another £3 spend at £land today, getting dangerously close to target.
Must get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!

When I signed up (quite a few years ago), I had to pay a one-off £1 membership fee. I hardly ever shop in a store (especially since one near us closed down last year -there is another a similar distance in a different direction, but I tend to forget it's there plus I find them expensive unless something is on special offer), but you also get dividends if you have an insurance policy with them (I don't) or a bank account (including Sm!le) which I do. So my dividends are almost exclusively for banking with them, and it's worth having just for that as it's basically money for nothing :)
Yes - they take £1 off your first dividend. I signed up this afternoon, partly because I realised that my nearest petrol station is a co-op one, although I usually get petrol when I do a Mr S shop.
  • Done my main shop this morning a Mr T which cost £72.36, slightly over budget but I did have wrapping paper and birthday cards to get too so I'm quite pleased still. Bought quite a few things that weren't on my list but were on special offer so I've now got loads of teabags, butter and washing powder. Also Ci1it Bang grease and floor cleaner 1.5 litre was on offer for £2 (I just add a cap full to an old empty spray bottle and top up with water - I use this for kitchen and bathroom cleaning, I think it must work out at about 5p a bottle:money: - cheaper than value brands, no smears and the citrus one smells lovely. I also also put a couple of capfuls in the mop bucket to do the floor - better than buying loads of different things too).

A strange thing was that last week in Mr T the H*vis bread was 75p each but the price label stated that the offer was going to be on until mid-October so I didn't bother stocking up, this morning though they were priced at 90p, thinking that next week they might be back to full price I picked up 4. Thing was though that at the bottom of my receipt it states that the bread is on offer 2 for £1.50, so still at 75p provided they are bought in pairs  - thought I would mention it though as this was not advertised on the price label - glad I got the discount!

I've got £70.22 left for next weeks shop so provided I stick to my list next week I should hopefully just about do it. Good luck everyone else too!:D

OMG I noticed this too... it was 75p a loaf when I did my online order (I got £10 off home delivery) and I checked the date it was supposed to end... this morning when I double checked the order it was 90p a loaf... no mention of 2 for £1.50 though!

I do hope it'll go through though... as I got 4 loaves :D

Sorry folks that I have been AWOL lately - where has the time gone? I am back at work and feeling completely shattered! It must be me age!

Anyway, I was tempted into Waitrose last week which was a big mistake as I ended up spending over £70! My target is slipping out of reach and with one more shop to go before the end of the month I think it will be a damage limitation exercise again. Still DD1 departs for foreign shores on October 2nd so we should be back to a more even keel then! I mustn't complain as she has just prepped tomorrow night's dinner - however, she does tend to go over board and use up all the ingredients even when half the amount would be enough. I suppose I can freeze the leftovers.

I did manage a frugal supper tonight - half a cauli, some broccoli spears and two leftover rashers of bacon grilled and chopped over the veg - topped off with a cheese sauce and served with jacket potatoes - it was tasty and not too expensive.

Well am off to try and catch up a bit.

    Have a good night all.

Have decided that the best way to cope with DH pay date change is to do a weekly grocery challenge so for rest of Sept I am aiming for £50.00 a week so put me down for £100.00 please-that will take me to 1st Oct which is a Friday and two weeks before next pay day.

    Off to update signature now!

Have spent £48.22 so far and shouldn't need anything else now untll Saturday (get my second £50 instalment on Friday to last till 1st Oct) this includes dinner for Saturday & Sunday which should technically come out of next weeks budget) so hopefully should be able to get ahead next week before I start the October challenge) Off to update sg now
