It may be 30 miles but I do not drive so it is difficult for me to get there
So people travel further.
My DH travels 45 miles to work every day. He cant drive due to disability and takes 2 buses a train and pays out ££££ to get there every day.
Still not a reason to walk out of perfectly good job IMAO.0 -
No you don't.You didn't like your old job so quit.I obviously need to appeal
Remind yourself of what you put somewhere else
"To be honest we need the money but Im not making that much.. Im on minimum wage and I make about £50 more a month than I would on JSA once rent and tax have been taken into account. I dont mind dropping that £50 as we would be able to manage until we move."
So you made a bad decision. Instead of wasting time unsuccessfully appealing, focus your efforts on finding yourself a new job.0 -
While your circs at your old place were bad, you could have moved house and kept your job. Thats the bit I think you are struggling to comprehend and the reason for the sanction.
Working people move around all the time and keep jobs, they just change their commute.
I can't see a justification to win an appeal in my opinion.

if you leave your job you get nothing for 13 weeks
if you start a new job you get nothing for 12 weeks as they will require 12 weeks payslips as proof of earnings
however, if you go in there with a letter form your parents or a friend stating that they are GIVING you £30 a week to support you out of the kindness of there heart or else you would starve you no longer fall into one of the above catagories and they will help you out with HB,JSA,etc. depending on your eligability though(they wonty pay you what your not entitled to but it will bypass the 12/13 week waiting period) im not sure how this will be affected by your partners benefits claim though0 -

That is not how it was at all! Yes I didnt enjoy the job anymore as who would really when people are dying around you all the time? You have to be strong for that kind of job and I am just not!
We NEEDED to move house for our sanity, do you understand how it feels to live like that? Like a prisoner in your own home because if you go out you get insulted and threatened and youre not even safe INSIDE your own home? If you did then you would understand the reason for moving!
We did try to stay in the town, the housing association wouldnt help us move even though they knew the situation they wouldnt help, our only choice was to move ourselves and get out of there after my life was threatened. We couldnt stay there any longer. How do I have to say it to spell it out? Someone threatened to stab me, 7 years of harassment. My dogs were even on edge and would run and try to hide when they were throwing things at the windows. Smashing the windows with metal bars.
We couldnt find anything in the area so we took what we could find.
My grandad also became ill so yes we did want to be closer and we had no support over there whatsoever and an hours drive just for family to visit which isnt always possible as it costs a lot of money.
I really do not think I could carry on with that job travelling from here with the way my rota was set out and having to be at someone for 7am and go around until 11 then nothing until 12 then nothing until 2:30 then nothing again until 4pm and then finish at 5:30 and out again at 7pm til anywhere up to 10pm. Where on earth do I go inbetween all that? It is not manageable from this distance and yes we chose to move this far but it was all we could find and afford.
I am looking very hard for a new job since I dont want to be on JSA, at the minute its the only way to get by as we have no savings.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
You say you were threatened to be stabbed, you must of caused some trouble there to be threatened in the first place. You have only yourself to blame.
Best thing you can do is stop whinning and look for another job.
I work 40+ hours a week pay all my own bills and live on my own too, so if i can do this, you can too.
I dont have any time to feel down as work comes first same as bills!!
Forget the emotional crap and start building a better life style for yourself. If you cant do this, then you might as well continue the way you are!! No one is going to help you only you can do this.
My god, we did absolutely nothing! If you find that hard to believe then that is your problem, we did absolutely nothing AT ALL to warrant the harassment over the years. We were not troublemakers, we kept to ourselves. We never shouted at them for doing it, we called the police which is what they advised is best to do in those situations. I seriously hope you are never in that situation and someone says that to you, how insulting.
Im sorry if you feel Im coming across as whiny or feeling down or whatever but Im in a pretty bad place right now having just lost a grandparent a couple of days ago.
I dont mind having to work, I want to work. Im searching and applying for whatever I can find, anything at all.
I want my life to improve and it has improved a lot just by moving, we are no longer on edge, I dont feel like I am needing support with my mental health and we are not being insulted/threatened/harrassed and we also have family around to support us and us them. So yes I am working on improving my lifestyle, and finding employment would really help with that and Im trying to find something, anything.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
I live in a bad area also, but i never speak to people around here so they know nothing about me or my way of life. People can do whatever they like or say whatever they like to each other. I dont go around telling people my business. I dont want to be a part of that!!!
If i see a gang of lads thats blocking my way, instead of walking around them I just walk through them and they have to move!!! If you show people your scared then yes they going to make a drama out it!!!
Nine times out of ten there like !!!!!! and just move out the way.0 -

I dont have a problem, but you do!!!
I just say things how they are. I dont go for the "Lets sit down a have a cup of tea thing"
If you have so many problems then, solve a problem one at a time.0 -
I'm sorry but I've reported this post for abuse. It is against board policy.
OP I don't have any practical advice but to try an appeal. You do seem to have some special circumstances and the decision maker may well listen.
I saw my brother's entire family go into meltdown when they lived under a similar threat from feral youths, and I can assure you they DID NOT deserve it or do anything even remotely wrong to warrant it. It affected my brother so much he actually became so ill he is now physically disabled as it affected his heart and other functions and he's only 44.
I hope you get it resolved,
Tehya
Im sorry to hear your family have been through this sort of thing also. It is a very stressful situation and I understand how it can affect the heart and your whole life.
These days you dont need to be asking for trouble, if someone is looking for it they just do what they want. In our case they were all complete strangers and we arent just talking kids we're talking older teens/adults who want to be on the wrong side of the law and cause havoc and mostly they get away with it so it keeps going.
If I fail the appeal then that is fine, we will get by somehow, I dont know how but we will. I would rather have money worries than worries over our lives and health.Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0
