Yes, I noticed that too. Either they're confusing the Xbox with a car made by Peugeot or the guy who designs the posters has got numerical dyslexia. For a company the size of Tesco it's amazing that nobody spotted an error like that before it went to print.

I wonder how long until a manager tries to use that to refuse an R+R... I can just imagine it... "Ah, you bought the Xbox 360, the discount was on the Xbox 306, it's a different games console completely".

Ohhhh...it's saying that again, is it? Saw that in the last week of August, too. I even asked a store if I could buy the 306. In fact, in the one store where I tried to buy a 360, they claimed I'd bought the wrong console, as the POS said xbox 306. I ended up walking away from that store without my Xbox, but not because of that. Sodding CS backed them up when they said the discount was on the game only (3 different people!!). I couldn't walk out with the Xbox to come back another day, as this particular store was a long way from home.

Oh don't know I think you copped out a little there how far does a store need to be away before an r&r of £300 isn't worth chasing then?:D

Unbelievable. I was half-joking when I suggested they might try that one on.

Either they were incredibly thick and actually believed there was another console called the 306, or there is no limit to the sheer desperation they will sink to in order to try and dodge an R+R. Neither surprises me actually.

It was quite a way away. Besides, 3 different CS reps all said the same thing - refund on the game only...word from HO at that time. This was on the 30th August. You should have heard the crap the manager came out with at first "The POS says it's £20 off the console without having to buy a game. You only need to buy a game with the PS2 to get a discount on the console." My reply: "So, you agree I've been overcharged." "Uh..No...Let me go check out the problem..." 30 minutes later, he comes back with a pile of games and asks the CS assistant to scan the console through with each game on separate transactions, none of which bring about a discount (he didn't try the actual GOTW, but this was when the poster said "Save £20 when you buy Xbox 360 (306) or PS2 and Game". He then tried the "It's the wrong console..it should be a 306". I informed him there was no such thing as an Xbox 306.

He !!!!!!ed off again for a futher 30 minutes, then came back with a bulldog looking woman in a suit (a manager lower than himself!) who knew what the problem was and told me I didn't buy the correct game. They then offered a refund on the game, to which I said no. They insisted I'd been overcharged on the game only. I asked them if I could call CS, which they did for me. First bloke was sympathetic and great, but somehow got cut off half way through the call. Second bloke sided with the store, saying this was known about and HO official line is that the overcharge is on the game only. Asked for a photocopy of the POS, as I said I was going to take it up with Trading Standards and was told by the Store Manager that the store didn't have a photocopier. The git in Dundee said that the store was sent an email telling them about the problem and to get the POS down a couple of days before. I asked the butch woman about this. She denied all knowledge and said that she'd only put the POS up that day! The git in Dundee told me to ring Store Support. I queried this with the store, who said they couldn't understand why CS would tell me to ring Store Support. I then left with a full refund and they kept the package. I rang CS from the car park and was told the same crap again (HO says it's an overcharge on the game only). I told the woman that I'd been told to contact Store Support. She went off and spoke to the git who I'd spoken to before. He denied telling me to speak to Store Support. He also said that he'd told me I had to take up the issue with the store (which was complete bull). Got off the phone and tried again and was told the same crap once more, as well as being told to call the Buyers! Gave up and drove home.

I was given so much BS that day, it was untrue. I was told to complain to the store manager. I said I'd spoken to the store manager. Then I was told to complain to the store manager's manager, etc, etc. It got stupid in the end. I said I wanted to make an official complaint about intimidation and being lied to, but was told CS could not help me with this, and it had to be done through the store. I had an argument with the bulldog after she demanded my name and address. I refused and said I don't have to give them to her. She said I was legally obliged to give them to her. I said I had no legal obligation to give them to her...She said "but you can have our names"...I said "I don't want your names". Like I said, it got daft. I didn't give her my details. She got my name off my credit card and I gave them a false postcode when I signed for the refund.

They kept me in that store for over 2 hours in the end. Incidentally, it wasn't even a premium. It was a sodding CORE! £239 or thereabouts. The added problem I had was that they hadn't changed the price of the Core when it dropped to £199 - they still had the £209 SEL up. They argued that as the Core had gone through the till at £199, I'd already had £10 off, so the other £10 was off the game. No worries, though, I did actually report a store to Trading Standards (not Consumer Direct) and they are going to be paying a visit to the stores in my county due to the frequent overcharging going on. :D

Has anyone else noticed the pos offering the deal on an xbox 306! and GOTW, now there's one they could win on.

I got an xpox 360 off them at the end of august when it was get £10 off with any game - the flyer then said "£10 off xbox 306 when you buy a game". I thought they may try to use that to get out of it - but they didn't even mention it.

Seriously, most staff in Tesco have no clue what an Xbox 360 is. They do believe there's another console called Xbox 306!

I still have the refund receipt, by the way. ;)
