  • Oh, just converted some old .3GP video clips my son made on my mobile phone last year and played them on my free PSP. Strangely enough, he filmed whilst we were in Tesco!!! Walking around Tesco from the view of a 9 year old. He even managed to film the Finesse boxes with the money off vouchers! Those were the days... ;)

For those who managed to grab a PSP, don't forget to pick up some cheap UMD films from Woolies - £3.99 a pop for many titles. There's a thread on this board about it somewhere. :D

£25 gets you a 2GB Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo on Ebay, which means you can stick films on it to watch on your PSP.

    http://www.engadget.com/2004/12/21/how-to-get-videos-and-dvds-onto-your-sony-playstation-portable/

Info on the above website tells you how to convert and put films onto the memory card to watch on your PSP.

How do you find the self scanners in Tesco??
Not all Tescos have them and in some stores (like mine in Aylesbury) the management have removed them all to stop you from checking for misprices. Only the jammy b*****rs out there get to use them :(
You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.
  • I've just had a thought do the clubcard points get taken away from you when you get a refund from HO ? so using a clubcard plus would give about 700 point ? and I believe they are worth 3p so £21 ? :rotfl:
  • Has anyone had any R&R's from Telford?, not sure what I'm doing wrong but I never seem to find any!! I'm sure they must be more on the ball than all the other stores because if not that would mean I'm not ;)
If you find my post helpful please do not click thanks, instead please send the thanks to my paypal account.

HI, I have asked this already but nobody seemed to pick up on it. How do you find the self scanners in Tesco??

You look or you ask( just say you want to check the price since there is no price on the shelf)
Must admit I don't use these, I always feel guilty and when I have tried they aren't working.

I usually put the items I think could be a mis price towards the end of my shopping on the conveyor belt when I know I will be at the other end packing the bags. I then watch the prices come up as I pack.

If the grocery items come up correctly I usually say I think I've got enough of ? could you take it off or if its a larger item, mobile etc I either ask for it to be taken off because I've changed my mind, don't have my credit card or return it later to CS for a refund
Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves

Try Stafford instead. I know the POS for the PSP was still up there earlier today. That was after someone had pointed :rotfl: the mistake out to customer services!!
We took on Mr T and we won:D

Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now

A happy ending for this story.Kevin Kelly just phoned me back asking for the name of the manager I had my run in with.Five mins later he phoned again and told me he had spoken to the manager and he was very sorry for the problem, head to Tesco cs desk and there will be a new PSP and a Tekken game waiting.

A big thanks to ben500 for his advice,Thankyou.
Don't forget to give the manager a little wink ;) if he's there when you pick up your psp, I'm betting he won't though as he will probably be applying some kind of ointment to his @rse

Thats fab mate, really pleased for you, bet that has wiped the smile off that managers face!
  • sarahmoon - there is a thread somewhere on MSE which lists stores and where to find scanners in each. Hopefully someone more able than I will be able to give you the link there.
But, when I had a look it doesn't list all the store nor all the scanners - so if you know any extra info I'm sure users of that thread would appreciate it.
    General rule of thumb is:-
    1) Look for one of the big steel supports coming down - Tescos use this to get the wiring to the scanner
    2) Ask a member of staff. They are SUPPOSED to be there for public use, so you are not doing anything wrong or underhand in using one.
I have found them in the book isle, with the baby stuff, in the drinks aisle, in with the clothing and with the 'seasonal' goods. The only consistancy with Tesco scanners is that for about 362 days of the year they will not be working :D
I have 3 in my local store - only been opened a yr and although one has a display on it, it has the 3/4 buttons down the right hand side, and never gives a price out. Presume these are the ones for 'Staff use only' which need a code or whatever for staff to operate.
Working ones will have the red (laser?) grid lights which do exactly what it says on the tin - reads the bar code and tells you the price.
Sometimes you get a message telling you to seek assistance, sometimes you have to 'scan' your item quickly a couple of times, but mostly - THEY JUST DON'T WORK !!.

Just a suggestion, but remember that most Tesco have some sort of camera/cctv/surveillance. So if you are recorded spending 10 minutes triple checking the price of a lap-top, and then try and claim R&R saying you 'thought' the price was the one displayed on that little old sel, which has an expired date on it.....if they have concrete evidence of you finding out full well what the correct price is, you may be on dodgy ground, esp with some of the managers you read about on here.
So maybe scan the price on one visit/store and actually buy the item later/elsewhere.
I shouldn't think it would matter much on smaller R&R's as I think ( correct me someone if I am wrong !) it is only items over £20 need authority from manager/duty manager

By the time I've finished this monologue you will probably have had a dozen more useful answers posted !!;)

p.s and if you do scan something at a higher price than its sel or label....Remember to let us all know !
    Thanks
