I have no idea how that happened to you, Joto. I got a Premium pack and Just Cause today and the discount didn't come off. I know someone else in my area got exactly the same pack and full refund, as discount didn't come off. A friend of mine in the SE hit three stores. All three times, the discount did not come off (one core pack, one world cup football pack and one premium).
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

have done it twice today and discount never came off, can't understand why it didn't for you[/quote]

I'm looking at my receipt now.
    360 console £279.97
    XBox 360 game £39.96
    MULTIBUY SAVINGS
    CONSOLE + GAME S £20 -20
    Total Savings - 20

I don't understand it at all, but it may help anyone who has to argue with CS about whether it is off the game only. It's definitely a multi buy saving and it definitely came off

    Well......?
you could say one price for the lot of them?
  • OK, I will try to explain. Lets say you pick up a copy of "lets tango in the bathroom" (i made that up) which is a DVD Box set which you KNOW is priced normally at £60.

You take it to the till, and it comes up £60. But wait, what did the shelf say? the shelf said it was from £6.97 and as there is no other price indication on the shelf then the price advertised IS £6.97.

Lets have a look at a bit of explaination of law provided by the goverment body "Consumer Direct"
The law requires traders to show the selling price of all products they offer for sale to consumers. They must also show a unit price for products sold from bulk such as fresh fruit and vegetables (which is a price per kilogram, litre etc.) and certain products marked with an indication of quantity or pre-packed in a constant quantity. For example, a bag of ten oranges costing £5.00 might display the unit price as 50p per orange. These price indications must be unambiguous, easily identifiable and clearly legible and be inclusive of VAT and any other taxes.

It is a criminal offence for traders to give a misleading price indication about goods or services. That applies in whatever way the price indication is given, whether written in a notice or leaflet or given verbally. For example, you may see a shelf edge price ticket showing £5 for the item, then you are charged £5.10 at the checkout. Another misleading price indication may be a price indicated on a leaflet, but you are charged at a higher price in the store.

However, a trader who mistakenly prices a product (for example, “28 inch widescreen television for £39.90” instead of £399) is not obliged to honour that price unless the transaction has already been completed. The trader must nevertheless take immediate steps to rectify the mistake.

So, just to clarify this, the only price indication you have is £6.97. However if the store corrects the mistake at the till then they have not broken the law and are NOT enforced by law to honour it.

However, if you have paid, and then complain that you have been overcharged after you have left the till, then by law they must honour the price of £6.97. As that IS the only price displayed and the pricing of something higher than £6.97 being covered by the word "FROM" is ambiguous in anyones language.

The word From only really comes into play if there is something to indicate on the shelf or product or somewhere else in the store (the till) what the correct price is.

Note that it is probably not wise in legal cases to claim you did not know the correct price when buying something if it was the only thing you bought. However it is perfectly ok to pay, go out, go back into check that you were charged the price correctly, and then complain.

Note, the above is only a theory, but I can see nothing saying that it is not correct.

I wonder if it's worth me trying a different pack. I went for this one because I thought it was the easiest to argue. it said £20 off Xbox console and this had Xbos console on the box. They did have the 360i others have mentioned and the football one. I suppose my problem will be they will scan the one I bought and say it's that one.

Anyone any ideas on the PSP that didn't say which was the GOTW just £10 off GOTW that I posted earlier?
Tekken is still being advertised as the GOTW on the PSP. If you buy the £149.99 base PSP or the white value pack PSP (179.99), the discount won't come off with the GOTW.

As far as the Xbox is concerned, I bought exactly the same one as you (white box Premium Pack £279.97) and Just Cause. No discount came off. I can't understand how a discount came off on your purchase when it didn't come off on anyone else's here (those who bought exactly the same bundle as you). The issue with the Xbox 360 isn't the type of console you buy - it's the game. Just Cause isn't the GOTW - The Godfather is. The poster is wrong when it says Just Cause is the GOTW. Unless the store has manually adjusted the till to take off the discount for that particular game, you shouldn't have received a discount when you bought it and the Xbox.

Question for Constantine: Is it possible for a store to adjust the system for that particular store to take a discount off an item?

Took some time to go through the boards to make sure this was not mentioned before and was lost among the PS2 and Xbox R&Rs.

Was at my local store today and while looking around one of the CS guys came over to another staff member and asked why the Phillips DVD player (3020) which had a £5.50 discount and a SEL of $34.xx was being charged at £39.xx Unfortunately, my store was out of stock (maybe somebody R&Rd the whole lot ??). So those who missed out on the xbox and ps2 I hope you get these

BTW - if any one is thinking of running to the Brent Park Tesco for the PS2 and Xbox - Dont !! All the posters for the GOTW have been taken down and for good measure, the xbox premium and ps2 whites have out of stock labels on them.

They have put up the Scissor sisters offer though but I didnt want to try it cos I didnt want to pay for another CD. The general "from £6.97" SEL is on CDs but it sounds a little too risky for me so would ttry it if any others have luck on it.
I have learnt that living life to the fullest gives you a much better high than alcohol or drugs !
  • Anyone can tell me if i could buy PSP Giga pack with GOTW and get the r&r?
