Ladies, is it worth a row to have matching window blinds?

Slightly tongue in cheek title but after a conversation with OH about buying new blinds for upstairs, I wondered what the general feeling was about blinds?
We have 'tilt & turn' windows, which means that ordinary blinds can't be used and we have to have special 'Perfect Fit' blinds that actually clip to the windows themselves. Because of this, we can't have vertical blinds and have had to go back to venetians....not my preferred choice because of them being dust collectors but our hands were tied somewhat because of the window type.
We have these on all the windows downstairs and now the upstairs is being overhauled, it's time to buy new blinds for those windows too. My original thoughts were that all the blinds should be the same so that the house looks 'uniform' from the outside. OH wants roller blinds on the bedroom windows as they are more 'bedroomy' and block out more light.
The cost for each is similar so it's not as if one would be a cheaper option.
Just wondered what others felt? I pretty much already know what I'm going to do but would be interested in your replies just in case I want to change my mind.:D

Well the thing about window blinds is that you'll be looking at them a long time so from that point of view it's worth having a row over
I must say I do prefer them all to match in a house, and we have ours like this. But I would be very swayed by being able to have non-venetians upstairs and losing the dust catcher problem.
Could they be in similar or toning colours, would that help?0 -
They are all going to be the same/similar colour anyway, I'm boring like that.Herman - MP for all!0

I have a variety of window coverings as it's never occurred to me they should all be the same.
IMO it's about getting what is right for each room - that seems more important than getting it right for passers by.
I think your oh has a point about roller blinds blocking more light and they are a bit 'warmer' to look at, I think.
But saying all that, if it will bug you every day then it's better to do them all the same! Will it bug your OH as much if you do them your way? Perhaps that should be the deciding factor?0 -
So would you have the same curtains in all the rooms for the same reason? I've got different ones in each room (to match the decor) and would not want the same curtains just so it looks the same from outside.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0

I can understand the desire to have all matching from the outside. But in reality who do you think will actually looking at your house thinking "OMG they don't have uniform blinds - how awful"
In all honesty I don't think it's worth the rowBesides giving your H his way gives you an Ace card for the next time you want your own way over something really important LOL!

Its never occurred to me to have matching blinds/curtains in every room in the house - and I've never noticed anyone else's house has/hasn't got matching blinds. Do people really look at that sort of stuff and have it register at all in their minds?0

Blackout blinds in the bedroom, no question. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

Your husband has mentioned that the blinds he wants in the bedroom block out more light, which is very practical, and some people need their sleeping space to be dark or wake very early.
Just because you are female does not mean you have the right to dictate furnishings; it's his house too. Just have the style he wants for practical reasons and the coloor you like to co-ordinate. Well clearly the answer to that is yes. :rotfl:I (and loads of people I know, so I'm not the only one, lol) all feel a house is smarter looking if it's 'dressed' the same way.
As for the curtains, imo they can't be seen in the same way from outside so no, they don't need to match.
The light thing isn't too much of an issue imo as I can just get blackout liners for the curtains, we had good ones when our daughter was little and they were very effective so OH can have his darkness either way.Herman - MP for all!0
