LOL!
Though I gotta say... drinking (or heaven forbid, eating) something whilst... clearing out... is gag-worthy, in my delicate girlie opinionR.I.P. Bart. The best cat there ever was. :sad:0 -

In answer to ThriftyFelicity and others, I use the loo at my convenience, not necessarily when I'm feel the urge (the idea being to avoid an urgent need at inconvenient moments). This can mean siting around waiting for peristalsis to take it's course, and time to solve a sudoku puzzle.

Another girl who reads on the loo, as does my OH his Playstation mag is always in there to browse through if I forget my own book or mag I did have to stop taking my PSP in with me as I would get engrossed in a game and then suffer 'Dead Legs'.
I find it easier to 'go' when my mind is occupied with other things.:AWhatever it is - I didn't do it!:A0 -
I'm a girl!
It's unusual to see me without a book though.
Funny in my house you can't say you're popping to the loo because there will be a massive stampede of small people who just have to go right now before you do. In fact that's what I do when we're going on a long journey, I start to head up the stairs and casually say I'm just going to the loo :rotfl:
Oh and if you manage to sneak in without them noticing it doesn't take long before they are all hammering on the door saying you need to come out because
'I need a wee right now/my sister bit me/I have to have my lunch it's 1pm/the cat is outside' or some other mysterious reason.
The joys of a good old fashioned one bathroom house:rotfl:Not just a sucker for sweeties..:o0 -

Those are pretty bad, but I think coming up close is the characteristic boop boop boop of someone who is obviously texting while on the bog. They are going to keep that phone in their pocket, hold it against their ear and mouth...
Funny story on that note from many years back, me and a friend returning from lunch, both need the loo and as we enter there is the characteristic ringtone of a Blackberry from one of the locked cubicles and the person not only answers but launches into a full on sales pitch for one of our enterprise level products.
Of course we couldn't resist and had to flush the two cubicles on either side.
Edit: In that same job, many of the older staff from certain engineering departments used to sneak off around 3pm and go to the loo for an hours sleep, on the grounds that they wouldn't get caught sleeping that way.
The fact that every cubicle was locked and some were snoring might have been a clue. Used to have to head down to purchasing and use their loos if I didn't get there before 3.0 -
My friend and I had a discussion that Jeremy Clarkson books are perfect for the lavvy - each story is a perfect length.
also, should mention that my friend was female, so there was a 1-all score there.
*EDIT* I just remembered about a guy that I knew about 8 years ago who would have a cuppa tea and twix whilst having his hangover poop.0 -

Reading on the Loo is nothing to worry about.
You sit and get comfortable.
Pick up your reading material.
Put down reading Material.
Finish the job in hand.
Wash hands.
Remove reading material or tidy it away.
At no point do unsanitary hands come in contact with the reading material. If your worried about the reading material picking up germs from being stored in the loo, think about where your tooth brush is stored??New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Mother of three who reads on the loo as venue of last hope.
My husband leaves books he wants me to read in the loo. (Something on knitting last month.) As other posters have said, for some women it is the only quiet place in the house. It is not the storage site of choice, but my family divides down "books everywhere" (including on the stairs) and "not a book in the house" (which feels really odd) - they don't do papers or magazines either - I had no choice but to mug up on hair product ingredients & the kids needed repeated reminders Not To Comment.
We were considering a small bookcase for the little loo, but clearly that would cause consternation amongst some. Hm. Is it worth the fuss?0
