ive been getting advice from citizens advice they called all the benefit agencys and also rang round a list of charitys to see if they could get me any help but didnt get anywhere with them.
thanks for your support0 -
yes thats what they said they would try to make contact with him if they didnt get a reply they could then close the claim ect, but they have to give him a strict amount of time to reply. if they can get the info required it will be quicker but if they cant contact him or he wont reply it could take upto 12 weeks. so i dont have a child benefit number to claim taxcredits, income support or housing and council tax benefit.
every thing just seems to be getting worse now if he returns he has the right to kick us out at any time, spoke to the emergency homeless section to see if they could get us in a hostel or refuge and they say we have to be actully on the streets and homeless for them to help. ive explained to them whats happened and that i dont feel safe and they gave me an emergency number just incase.
i have been searching the internet to see what benefits we can claim untill i get the childbenefit number but cant find anything at all for a situation like this.
i feel scared to ring social service again after being warn like that but if it comes to it im going to have to and i will speak to a manager as i need help i cant carry on this way.
one of my children attend school but the other is just a toddler but the health visitor could tell them its me that has then i take them to doctors if there ill or anything and same with school.
i cant think straight anymore and i am praying they sort something out we cant go on living like this and i feel like ive got totally nowhere what so ever
thanks again for all the support
Hi Ella, I do not know procedure as such but Casseus seems to have quoted what you're rights are. I realise it must be exhausting for you, but please do not feel scared to press Social Services - I am sure they have a duty of care towards you and your children at this very difficult time. Do not be fobbed off by them!0 -
do you no if shelter in england helps with benefit problems or is it just housing?0
-
i will have to ask them again if something isnt sorted out i really cant go on like this its 1 thing after another now
thanks for your support though this0 -
Have you tried Welfare Rights at your local council?
I used to work for a charity helping people claim benefits and we often liaised with the local Welfare Rights people over benefit claims. They may be able to put some 'oomph' in with Social Services - tbh I'm very surprised SS hasn't done more given your situation, maybe contact from an outside organisation might make them realise the severity of the situation?Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

yes i think theres one in the the town centre council offices i will call in tuesday see if they could help, i thought citizen advice might if got somewhere with them but she still warned me when she came0

Hun, can't help with benefits, sounds very complex.
However if you need clothes for the children, have a look for freecycle, freegle groups in your area and also check out netmums.
Then you can see if anyone is giving any clothes away, etc.
Hope you get a resolution to this situation urgently!!0 -
Just a thought, but have you tried contacting your local salvation army, or popping in They are absolutley wonderful with providing help to families in difficult situations.0

to be honest ella i would put a formal complaint into social services via the childrens commissioner.
they cannot warn you off in calling them when you are in need of help and support section 17 is there for everyone in this and other sitautions where your are unable to provide for your family due to NO FAULT OF YOUR OWN.
this is simply a social worker that is lazy and un supportive to you you need to request a different social worker via the manager as your unhappy and disgusted by the last one.
this country's benefit system is in tatta's its up to us the VOTER to FIGHT BACK.
have sent you private message ella.0
