just wondering is anyone else taking a break TTC over the Dec due date period? if OH and i don't fall this month we're going to be careful BDing over the next couple of months to minimize chance of a baby being born in December or January. and then try again for a February or March baby and so on.

    Is anyone else doing this??

I think it's a valid reason, but don't feel you have to justify yourself! :) I'm not sure what we'll do, haven't really thought about it TBH. We'd naively thought we'd "definitely" have a baby by Christmas 2011... :o I don't think I mind when our baby arrives, besides you never know if it might be early or whatever. Feb/March is a manic month for our family in terms of birthdays, so we'd probably be just as well to avoid those anyway! I haven't worked out my predicted cycle dates as to when baby would be due if we conceived in x month.

My friend popped round for a cuppa this morning, with her 6-month old little girl. She is so beautiful, she really is. So smiley, and with a permanently surprised look on her face! :p Had a lovely long cuddle, so feeling all blissed out now!

My poor friend is so stressed though, worrying about what to do about work. As well as her baby, she's got a 3-year old, and she's in the process of working out whether to go back to work, full-time/part-time, etc. Are any of you guys worried about that? I do wonder what we'll do. My DH doesn't earn enough on his own, and I do like my job, but it's an hour away so that's 10 hours a week extra that I'd have to be away from home. I'm sure we'll work something out, but it is something that concerns me a little. (Bit premature I know seeing as said child(ren) doesn't even exist yet!) :rotfl:

Gosh we've been thinking about this too, haven't come up with a definate plan yet! :rotfl:

OH's salary alone likely won't be enough so once maternity is done I'll have to go back at least PT. We're planning to rent our flat out though so that could bring in some extra cash. And OH trying for a better paid job too.

    There's always euromillions!

I do worry about what I would do work-wise too, Ive just taken a much higher position within my company and I dont think they will thank me for getting pg anyway!! But I have just spoken to them about raising my hours when ds starts school in September, but I would then want to reduce it again if I had another and I dont think they would want me too....
    10/10 [STRIKE]£12,156.26 [/STRIKE] 11/10 [STRIKE]£11,950[/STRIKE] 04/11[STRIKE] £12,500 [/STRIKE]Ooops! Okay, back on track - 01/2014 £2,800, 05/2014 £4,500 (my car died!)

QQ - good luck for Thursday!!!
Kimmy - hope you ov'd late and/or that you are similar to your sis!! (although I don't fancy all the BFN's before a late BFP...:o)
Jen151 - I understand where you're coming from re: December & January babies (my oh is a jan baby) For me it's slightly different... I would love a baby around that time as I will only be able to take approx 6ish weeks off after birth so, if my maternity leave ties in with Xmas, I get an extra 2 weeks as we get 2 weeks off over xmas anyway  BUT - having said that, I still stick with Que Sera, Sera - when it's meant to happen, it will happen ;)
BB - I won't have a choice but to come back FT as I am breadwinner :o but DH might go back PT; we'll have to wait and see when it happens ;)

Well I was at friends when I was feeling the pains so (TMI) used a tampax incase I started whilst I was out. When I got home there was 2 little spots of blood on it but nothing since??
Sounds like implantation spotting, but it could be anything from ov spotting/random spotting/rough BD spotting.

    Fingers crossed though:)

to be honest i think august is the worst month cause the kids are off school and might not be able to get classmates to parties in the holidays.
I'm an August baby, and I can tell you it's the worst:o
But you do get nice family holiday birthdays. I had one at Disneyworld and Disneyland Paris to name a few:cool:

Well, there are a few reasons... Number 1 - no one else can do my job and it would not be possible to teach a 'temp' therefore, I would have to pick up the pieces and even one week off is difficult for me... Number 2 - we couldn't afford for me to have any more time off... I haven't worked out exact finances yet but, it will all depend on what my company will be able to offer and as I will be the first ever (in 30 years of the company) that has had maternity, it's going to be very difficult to get much fully paid (I *think* they have to give 6 weeks at 90% pay) and we definitely can't afford SMP :( I may be able to add 3 weeks holiday onto my maternity and make it 9 weeks but, it all depends. I guess I will only know once it happens but I know that no matter what, we will get through it as you do what you have to do :o Both my parents went straight back to work when we were born - needs must and all that.... I know it's a touchy subject but, unless we win the lottery, we have no choice...

it seems a shame but i supposed needs must!

my mum went back to work at 6 weeks as well.

have you heard about the new thing being introduced after april where mums and dads can split the maternity leave - maybe your partners could have the 'maternity' leave instead!

i am curious now - what do you do for a job??? if you are the only one who can do your job the company must really rely on you. you could try to use that to your advantage to get better maternity pay out of them. especially if no-one else has ever had maternity - there is no policy in place!
