Trying for a Baby Part Six

just wondering is anyone else taking a break TTC over the Dec due date period? if OH and i don't fall this month we're going to be careful BDing over the next couple of months to minimize chance of a baby being born in December or January. and then try again for a February or March baby and so on.
Is anyone else doing this??
We took breaks fairly often when we first started: didn't want a christmas baby, didn't want to coincide with end of DHs contract etc. Now like others on here I just want a child and I don't care when their birthday is.My poor friend is so stressed though, worrying about what to do about work. As well as her baby, she's got a 3-year old, and she's in the process of working out whether to go back to work, full-time/part-time, etc. Are any of you guys worried about that? I do wonder what we'll do. My DH doesn't earn enough on his own, and I do like my job, but it's an hour away so that's 10 hours a week extra that I'd have to be away from home. I'm sure we'll work something out, but it is something that concerns me a little. (Bit premature I know seeing as said child(ren) doesn't even exist yet!) :rotfl:

Our situation is not easy. DH earns enough for us to manage on but his job is temporary and there is no way I could give up work or reduce my hours when there is a chance he won't find another job when his contract finishes. It's also impossible for DH to change his hours during a contract so he is stuck working FT as well. Also, I love my job and if I gave it up I am certain I'd never be able to find anything like it ever again as it's so specialised.
Smash: it might not be an ideal situation but as you said you do what you have to to get by, and at least your OH may have the option of going back PT.0 -
Its tricky isnt it deciding on the best course of maternity leave, working part time etc. Id like to think when we get lucky again Ill be able to work part time, but who knows when that time comes. Ive had the official meeting today about my hours being reduced. 30 hours from 1st April. Though Ill miss the money, im quite looking forward to 4 day weeks!
I dont think we will have a ttc break over March, I just want a baby now. Though still bleeding so hoping this is CD3.
My friend had a little boy on Christmas day a few years ago, he now has a Summer Birthday. So, he has Christmas on Christmas Day and his birthday is 25 June. Seems to work fine for them. xx0 -
Just a quick delurk ladies, hope you are all well!!
I noticed EWCM today - now I've seen it I know I've had it before IYSWIM! I'm on CD 13(28), and we BD'd on DC 10 & 12 - am I right in thinking we BD every day from now until there is no more EWCM? I am in full detox mode this time, no sneaky glasses of wine for me!
On the subject of working I would have to go back full time, as I earn a lot more than DH. It makes me sad but there is no way round it! I'm hoping for 6 months mat leave but depends on how our finances hold out.
SBDTA!xxx

my mum went back to work at 6 weeks as well.
have you heard about the new thing being introduced after april where mums and dads can split the maternity leave - maybe your partners could have the 'maternity' leave instead!
i am curious now - what do you do for a job??? if you are the only one who can do your job the company must really rely on you. you could try to use that to your advantage to get better maternity pay out of them. especially if no-one else has ever had maternity - there is no policy in place!
I have heard about the new things for Dad's re: maternity for Dad's although I'm not sure when it comes into effect... Will have to look into it when the time comes!
Ah, my job - now that would be tellingBasically, I provide cost management/control & manage contractual issues for projects BUT - it is a medium sized company owned by a family and all of the current systems in place now have been designed by me. Unless someone worked alongside me for 6 months, it would be impossible for them to just 'pick up a contract and understand it.' Same goes for the system which is contract-bespoke. The problem is, if someone did something wrong, it would not necessarily show up straight away and I would be left with picking up all of the pieces (legally a BIG problem) I'm not saying I'm not irreplaceable (no one is) but, it would cause a pretty big disruption...
(Are you bored of hearing about my job yet? :rotfl:)
Hoping I can use it to my advantage but, as I say, I wouldn't want to relinquish too much control due to the aftermath which could take years to sort out....... :eek:Que Sera, Sera0 -
Oooo Smash you sound well clever innit
I can see why you are not keen on letting someone else do your job, sounds like they could royally c**k it up?
Im just a dull old Finance Assistant for a Charity. Not half as exciting as yours sounds.
So, everyone spill.... what do you do for a living? xx0 -
