I've had a good rumage about and managed to find a test and not surprisingly it was a BFN. That's fine, I would have been gobsmacked if it had been anything else. This almost feels like trying for a lottery win, I always feel optimistic but deep down know my balls will never pop up :rotfl:

    :rotfl:
Maybe it's because you didn't use FMU?

ETA: I was laughing at the balls not popping up comment not you BFN - just in case you thought I'd gone all mean on you! :o:p

Yeah I agree, unless you've not drank for hours and held it in for a while it may not be 'strong' enough

Thanks everyone :) I would probably die of shock if it did pop up a BFP :rotfl:

Edit: didn't realise it might not be "strong" enough, might try again in the morning if AF hasn't turned up
  • Do you remember how long it took you to start ovulating once you started taking it?

As far as i'm aware QQ has never taken metformin. I started oving the month i started taking Metformin though so try not to worry. It doesn't have the best side effects though but on a toss up between those and oving I pick oving and lump the symptoms.

I don't want to think too hard about the TTC stuff cos I get a bit OCD on things when I start and know that I will just upset myself more than I need to.
That's the best way to TTC IMHO:)

:o (((Hugs))). You could have been too early, but I do see a downward trend on your chart:o

GG is right, I was never offered metformin for some reason:huh:
I keep feeling ok about it, and then other times I feel a bit sad and guilty for my OH.
It's not your fault, you were probably born with it:o
The things that worry me that I have read about (google was calling me!) is more chance of miscarriage (don't know if that's still the case if I was on medication?), twice as likely to get ovarian cancer, diabetes, high BP and cholesterel which I guess alot of people get anyway. And 1 in 5 women have it which is pretty common.
It's probably because one doesn't ov often so our lining etc are stressed. With drugs we can overcome this hopefully:cool:
My mum had endometreosis (sp?)! I'm sure I also read if it's from your fathers side he wouldn't have fertility problems but a sign is balding (which he is...very!)

I'm glad iv'e found out now and not further down the line anyway :)
It could have been worse:o PCOS is not that bad:cool:

Not sure why though, maybe I should ask...

    I can't test, I don't have a single tester in the house :o
C'mon luv, you were in SAinsbury's! :rotfl:
    Good luck for tomorrow :)
Do you remember how long it took you to start ovulating once you started taking it?
I've been taking it a couple of months now and have got down from a 69day cycle, to 57days and now I'm on something like CD20 and I think I had ECWM a few days ago...so we shall see :) Seems like the Metformin and the 1.5st gone has made some diff to me :)
I keep feeling ok about it, and then other times I feel a bit sad and guilty for my OH.
I felt the exact same way for a few months :o

Usually being obese (but I think you said you were skinny, if I remember right?) is sort of hand in hand with PCOS (because of the way your body handles sugar in a lot of PCOS cases) - so obesity in and of itself will cause the majority of those frightening statistics. The various medications available these days can realign the hormone balance, which (from what I've read etc) is what causes the miscarriage stats. The cancer is to do with your body not doing what it's "supposed" to do naturally, so when you get treatment for PCOS that again should help safeguard against that. Plus if you were on the pill before this, that will've regulated your hormones/cycles etc for during that time which has an impact on the prognosis (in a good way) too.

So, my point is, yes it's scary - and I was thrown through a loop too when I found out - but logically speaking, now you know, they can deal with it and help you avoid those things :)

HTH put your mind at ease? :)

Thanks Greener Grass. I will definately take it if offered if it's going to make make me ov. What kind of side effects are they? :o

    How are you?

Is it Clomid you take or is that for something completely different?

Thanks QQ. I know endometreosis can make you infertile if you have had it bad for long enough ( i think!). I don't think my mum knew about it until she had me (i'm the youngest and my brother is 12yrs older) and that's when she started having problems. She didn't think she could get preg again and they had given up when I came along :p

    Thanks Bigzippy.

My BMI is 15. something so I will have to work on increasing this as well which will help.

Thanks for clarifying the scary things that come with it. I know google is evil but I just couldn't help it! I was on the pill for about 8yrs so hopefully that's a good thing. I really hope my doctor will give me something to take and doesn't want me to wait :o

I know it's not my fault but I can't help feel bad for my OH. He's been so supportive about it and he doesn't seem bothered or worried. He's amazing :)

Thanks for making me feel better everyone. Think it was just the initial shock and worry. I'm really grateful I haven't had to find out later on. We have been trying 9 months which i'm sure is the average it takes to conceive so I can wait a bit longer for a healthy bean. And it's not that i'm completely infertile,we just might have a few problems along the way! I guess when you put things into perspective it's not that bad :o

Ohh, would I be on metformin permanently or is it just while you TTC? I was hoping to never go on the pill again but if it would keep my cycles regular I guess I would have to if i'm not on Metformin for the PCOS.

I haven't temped the last couple of days. I'm full of cold and it started Thurs night with a really sore thoat and cough so for the last few nights I have hardly slept. Probably why my temps started going up!

    Sorry for the mammoth post!

What's everyone upto today? I was meant to work (overtime) but i'm too poorly so going to have a rest :)
