Sorry another question - this time about suppliments.....

I've been taking folic acid and I've decided I'm going to go out and buy some royal jelly and some agnus castus (in the hope I'll get a period - funny how you spend all that time now wanting them and now I'd be pretty darn happy to bleed every month :)).

Hubby would also like to take something. Am I right in thinking they recommend zinc for men? Anyone heard of anything else a daddy-to-be should take?

I know you can't ask for medical advice but I'm just trying to find out what everybody else takes. I will then do my own research/seek guidance to check whether we are medically ok to take anything suggested.

    Morning!
Well CD4 for me. Hubby went to Drs yesterday for his sperm analysis, however we weren't told anything when he made the appointment and it turns out our local hospital can only look at quantity and not quality so i had to make a 20 mile mercy dash to the nearest fertility clinic. His appointment was 9:05, he didn't come out until 9:45 he then had to go home, produce his sample and i needed to get it to the clinic by 11am or else they stop taking samples. Was quite tight but i managed it, was a bit surreal as i had to keep it in my pocket to keep it around body temperature :) Kept thinking if i get stopped by the police i would just have to say look i have to get my husband sperm somewhere before 11 :rotfl:The Drs has told DH that results would be back in 5 days but the clinic told me 2-3 weeks which is a bit of a upset but never mind. I'm due my 1st set of 21 day bloods later this month. I feel a bit better as we're now actually doing something-i have all fingers and toes crossed.
Anyhoo i was just wondering for those who have experience of SA what kind of thing i am expecting to hear? I mean i know they will look at quantity and mobility but if anyone has any experience of this i would be interested in hearing? I mean what happens if there is a problem with the little swimmers?

QQ very sorry too here your news, my thoughts are with you. Can you possible get some medical advice about how flying long distance will affect your eggies? It's such a terrible decision to have to make, I hope that it all works out. ((hugs))

    xx

Now some mornings I'm kinda awake before my alarm goes off but I'm still lying in bed half sleeping but where I'm a bit awake I toss and turn a lot. Will this have an impact on my temperatures?
A bit maybe, but I do it all the time, it's fine:p
Also some mornings I wake up with the cover over me and some mornings I wake up with it off me and I'm naked (sorry of TMI). Will that make a difference?
It does (you sleep naked!), but not that much, it should show the ov temp shift. Don't worry too much:o
And finally, am I right in thinking that my temperatures will give me a clear indication as to whether or not I am actually ovulating. I know that you can get a positive OPK and not ovulate (so in effect getting a false positive) but could the same apply with temperatures i.e. get the drop in temp but then not actually ovulate?
One can be pretty certain one does, but there are always exceptions.

There are various supplements men can take, I'm not going to offer advice, but just tell you what my DH took - multi-vits, folic acid, vitamin E and brazil nuts. But zinc is supposed to be good too:cool:

    I know what you mean:rotfl:
The Drs has told DH that results would be back in 5 days but the clinic told me 2-3 weeks which is a bit of a upset but never mind.
You could try calling them in 5 days?
Anyhoo i was just wondering for those who have experience of SA what kind of thing i am expecting to hear? The main thing is the count, morphology (shape) and motility (mobility). Even if the morphology etc are low (they say in %), as long as count is high it's OK.
Or you could be unlucky (like my DH) to have low everything:o

It is not good to base it on just the one test, as the results can vary a lot. Men can get nervous and produce pretty bad sample on their first try, but a respectable ones on their subsequent ones, so don't worry unless it's zero...

Thanks, my fertility doctor is extra cautious doctor. He told me to stay at home, don't go out, cook or do housework for the next 2 weeks (1 weeks is gone). Not that I obeyed that, I had acupuncture appts, and I'm fine with cooking:p

    No PMA for me today:(

My parents are in hospital right now:(
Mum got dizzy in the middle of the night, so dad tried to move her somewhere, slipped and dad can't feel a thing below his neck.

Kind of reminds me there are more important things in life then TTC.

My sister didn't tell me right away because she thought it might affect my eggies, but my other sister thought I should know. My parents doesn't know I've been doing IVF.

I can't go to them because I'm abroad. DH thinks I should go to them on Monday, but I don't think it's good for my eggies. It's a long flight:(
Woah. Sorry to hear that QQ. :( I hope you find out that all is well and it was just a bit of bruising on his spine and that he's being released shortly. I'll pray for him. Are your sisters with your parents?

Bigzippy - wow that really was a mammoth post. Made me chuckle. I think most TTC women suffer the same irrationalities (have I just made that word up). Oh and the name thing - seriously people are just mind reading theives :rotfl:
Irrationalities is not made up, in my book at least ;)
    :rotfl: @ mind-reading thieves

Glad I'm not the only one on the name thing though :D I won't even discuss names outside of me and DH now, cos I'm paranoid that as soon as I say them out loud they get pinched! And Facebook is terrible for telling you all the people, you would never have known to have used that name, if it wasn't for Facebook :o

I think when I'm pregnant I'll have the same issue. Me and DH have vowed to have like 3 girl and 3 boy names to go into the delivery room with and then pick! :p And I refuse to discuss those names outside of me and DH cos people can be VERY opinionated and I wouldn't want to be easily swayed/have them tarnished. Or is that just me? :o

Only thing hubby takes for TTC is folic acid (something about helping his swimmers, I dunno lol). He generally takes a multivit anyway. Can't help you with specifics though.

I was wondering where you were Darkphaery. Hope the tests all come back brilliant :)

At least there's someone there with them, not that they necessarily helps how you feel. Is the other going to travel over to be with them?

My temperature has tanked. I'm still getting -ive OPKs. I'm 13DPO (if I did actually ov on CD30) so I think either AF is on it's way, or I didn't ov when I thought I might've and I'm in for another mammoth cycle. Either way I feel empty. And lonely. :(

PMA for the day....I'll have to come back to that one.... :(
