Trying for a Baby Part Six

Sorry if this is a daft question (am new to this whole TTC thing so still learning!) but how does your cervix change throughout a cycle? I know about temp and CM but wasn't aware of changes to the cervix itself.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

Just out of curiousity (and hopefully it's ok to post this here rather than on the new waiting to TTC thread) what did you all do in preperation to TTC (if any)?I know you've been trying for a while but on an encouraging note my sil has her 1st baby last year after 5 years of trying and is now expecting no 2, so never give up.
I think I'll stop after my first one - if I ever get a baby that is:o0 -

For us the majority of the preperation was financial. My husband has two children that we financial support so it makes it a little bit more tricky financially to have our own bambino (especially since I'm the breadwinner - we'd really struggle whilst I'm on maternity if we hadn't built in some provisions).
We were also waiting to sell our place and move before TTC but we've given up that idea for now. We didn't want to hold off any longer as we knew that it could take a while to conceive. We'd been trying to sell our place for 7 months so the thought of holding off for longer and then struggling to conceive wasn't appealing.
Physically the only thing I did was to stop taking the pill. I'm now wishing we'd started a diet and started taking supplements - oh well, it's never too late to start is it. I've also got a doctors appointment next week as I don't have periods and wonder if I have something like PCOS. I know they can't look at anything fertility related until we've been TTC for a year but I'm hoping they can look at any general problems in that region.
Anyway just curious - although understand if people don't want to share.
DH wanted us to wait until we were married, I wanted to try sooner but he wanted to do it "the proper way" because he's a bit old fashioned like that
The only things I've done are come off the pill and start taking a few supplements. I was to impatient to wait for my cycle to settle down before TTC so we've just gone straight into it!I figured we may as well be trying in the mean time and we might just get lucky.
I also have a question - can anyone give me the name of any good books relating mostly to TTC? Most books I've seen only have a short section about TTC.

We got married first:p For that I went to the gym to look good for my wedding. Also pg vits. That's it:)
What did they do to get her 1st baby? Was it just 'relaxing'?

What they actully did to conceive was give up trying, they had just started looking into adoption when she got her BFP. I now have a gorgeous little nephew who is making me very broody.:)0 -
I have came on to say thank you to those of you who have sent me (and phunkles) pm's in these past two days, we value your support and are touched that you care
I have also had messages from other longer term TTC members who no longer post on this thread for the same reasons as previously mentioned, this makes me angry. It is extrememly sad so many members feel uncomfortable and have been pushed out of this thread.
For those of you who know me or support what I have said please pm me, I have set up a forum for us to chat without any of the forementioned problems and would love you to be a part of it. If you are a lurker and this describes you, please message me. Those waiting to try after miscarraiges etc are welcome also.To any of our former members who still luck, you're welcome too!
To the rest of you, good luck on your journey to pregnancy.0 -

Second time round I started planning about 2 1/2 years beforehand (waiting necessary because of potential hyperemesis but I am a bit of a crazy planner anyway). I can't remember all the planning I did but the main things were read lots about birth and made birth plan (because the first time round I made choices I wouldn't have made if I hadn't been so ill and I didn't research enough because of how ill I was), read lots about hyperemesis in vain hope of finding something that might prevent it, made first year of second baby budget, made lots of plans for how we would manage if I had hyperemesis (and discussed said plans with OH but omitted to take into account that he would forget them all), made sure we had six months of all groceries where that is possible, stocked up the freezer with homemade freezer meals, bought full spectrum urine dipsticks in order to be able to check for ketones and probably did a few other things that I've forgotten.
Supplement-wise, the first time round I bought antenatal mulitvitamins which I started to take from when I got a positive pregnancy test (so about five weeks). Second time I took a B-complex vitamin from either two or three months before TTC (I can't remember now) as there is a theory that hyperemesis gravidarum can be caused by deficiency in certain B vitamins.
This time I have a huge plan which is a work in progress and similar to these:

I'm planning on the B complex like last time plus an antenatal multivitamin in advance and I'm going to buy folic acid for when I'm too ill to take gigantic vitamins.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

As a newbie who has been made to feel uncomfortable posting for the past few days I can appreciate this sentiment.
It is a shame for anyone to feel uncomfortable to post - whether it's because they're new, because they've been TTC for a while or for any other reason.
I wish everyone felt comfortable to post on this thread as it really is a great one.Greener_Grass wrote: »

As with the others (waiting to TTC) that have felt they've been pushed out and have started a new thread I will say the same as I said to them. I really do wish that everyone could stay and not feel pushed out. As lots of people have mentioned we all share the same common goal - to have a baby.
Whatever you and the other ladies decide on I (and I'm sure many others on here do) wish you all the best x0 -
First time round, I read lots of threads on MSE about what one needs for babies and made a list of things needed and a budget for the first year of having a baby partly just because I thought it useful from a planning point of view and partly to reassure my husband that we could afford it. I also prepared myself mentally for the possibility of TTC for a long time (although not for any particular reason other than I knew that it can).

Hello everyone!
I've been working loads for the past few day and only just had a chance to catch up:o
For one I'm very glad for this thread, we've not told anyone we're ttc and fantastic as my OH is there is a lot of stuff I'd rather "talk" to other women about. I don't want him to feel the pressure I do frankly.
Anyhoo, AF due any day. After my crazy ss last month I was determined not to this month and it's worked cos I haven't had a single one! I had cramps and spotting last month at about 10 dpo but then came on about 5 days later and have had the same on Monday this week so I'm guessing AF will be here on Sat/Sun. Not feeling confident for a BFP this month. I'llprobably go a bit quiet when the witch shows as hubby will be off working abroad for the next 6 weeks and then off and on all summer so won't be much to report from my side. I'll be lurking and watching you ALL get your BFP's though!
Though from a PMA point of view it's Friday and I've got a M&S Gasto pub meal for dinner :T
All the very best to everyone!!!0
