Please can someone help with any advice, we bought a fluless fire in 2007, since it was installed we have had to redecorate due to the fire giving off soot particles. I have spoken to the manufacturer off the fire (focal point) and firstly they advise me that I needed the coals replacing which I did. Since then the shooting is still happening. I have advised them off the limitations act where I have up to 6 years to complain about a faulty product. I have since sent them videos and photos off the fire in use and now they have replied saying that the burner requires replacing, however this is no longer available and the components are obsolete. I have been advised to contact the retailer where I bought the fire from, however, the company has been bought out in 'name only' and not taken any entities. Please can someone help me on what I need to do now as I can't seem to get anywhere.:(0

I bought a garfield novely phone from a seller on Ebay, who also claims to have a shop in Ringwood. This was in December. It did not work so I contacted the seller and said that I would be sending it back after xmas. I posted it back. The seller promised a full refund due to a full refund policy.
Several emails have been exchanged where he promised to give me a full refund via paypal. Delays were due to him having to register on paypal, if he couldn't do it he would send a cheque, the Paypal is waiting for me to "except" it, etc, etc.
No cheque or Paypal refund have ever materialised and it is now way beyond Ebay's 45 days limit of being able to act for me. I suspect that the seller knows this and was delaying.
How do I chase a refund from the seller if Ebay will not act?
Its is only £26 - but thats not the point!
Many thanks,
Julie0 -

Hi,
I recently bought an external hard drive as a backup and portable storage device for work/home. It worked perfectly well when it arrived and I had no problems with it.
I was careful with it, not letting it drop and kept it a insulated cover to save it from knocks or bumps. I also made sure to 'remove it safely' everytime I disconnecting it from laptop.
However, 5 months after purchasing it, I connected it up and the computer would not recognise it and it also made a faint humming sound that sounded like trouble.
I was obviously very anxious as it contained all of the data that I had collected from work for the past 5 months and all the stuff from my home computer. So I delayed no time in contacting the manufacturer explaning my situation and pleading for a solution.
But the manufacturer didn't reply.
I explored the paperwork that came with the device and was glad to discover it had come with a 2 year warranty. However, the warranty stated that the manufacturer weren't liable for data loss and if the device were to be sent back for repair/refund then data would not be a priority.
As they hadn't replied to me I decided to send it to an external computer shop to chance data recovery and/or repair. However, they too failed to do anything about it.
I've looked at the manufacturer's TCs again which state external repair will void the warranty. Does this leave me out of pocket? I understand the logic behind the TCs but I don't believe that left me much choice since they don't take data into consideration although that is the main purpose of the drive!

data is your concern
thats why we are all expected to have back ups(however I think we all have been caught ot at one time or another)
What manufacturer was it? most I have dealt with have online RMA procedures0 -
I know that data is my concern and that is what the hard drive was for- a back up, the laptop at work failed which means I lost that data and the external hard drive failed a few months later which means I lost the back up.
The manufacturer's Buffalo.
Thank you0 -

Thank you
well when the laptop failed
you no longer had a back up,you had one single copy
Looks like Buffalo dont do online RMA
if the shop opened the case then its all moot as they warranty would be void0 -
Hi,
I have an iPad which I've had some problems with. I'm still using it, but the problems caused a great deal of distress & cost me days to resolve.
It was bought direct from Apple so they are retailer & manufacture.
They have given barely any advice & refused to provide any compensation.
One of the problems is that apps I have paid for have been removed from the app store. Due to problems with the iPad, I had to factory re-set it so the apps are gone. They are refusing to refund an app which they paid for & will no longer provide.
Does anyone have any advice?0
