I wasted close to 2k on Venture portraits of us with our beautiful 8 month old DD to keep us with the Joneses, all my friends had them and at the time I really felt the need to keep up for some reason. We now have a 10 month old DS and DD is nearly 4 and those pictures make me feel sick every time I look at them!!

Had a free session from Venture once. Bunch of robbing dogs they are !!!!

Luckily, I told them to !!!! off when they wanted more money.
  • A £500 bus pass for my daughter to get to college. Should of researched the route. She will have to cross a busy dual carriageway in the dark and during rush hour. I think not. So we've had to buy a season ticket for the train. I hoping they will refund the bus pass but I'm not hopeful.

You should have a good chance of getting some money back on the bus pass, phone who issued it as soon as possible and explain.

How much is your other testicle worth? :rotfl:

    pmsl!!! oops :o

I purchased a dog who has one testicle for £450! I bought him to use as a stud dog with my girl dogs but his testi didn't come down so I can't breed him else I will create more genetically incorrect testicle thingys on more dogs. Shame too cos he was so pretty... He is still in our family though but I didn't get to breed my girls this year... been burned twice through dog breeding!

I paid a girl £300 to use her stud dog and she ran away with my money! I did eventually find a nice person and did get my puppies in the end and had 4 little bundles of joy! :T
2011/12: Wii & mario cart £200 lego bundle Samsung Galaxy S3, 2 nights in London with flights, £200 spending money £1000 cash! Spongebob joke teller!

    2013: Wii U & spongebob game
  • A pretty decoupage storage box that I paid £100 only to find the lid had been lined with fabric backed on a cornflake packet!!!!
  • I like throwing things away. In transit at Frankfurt Airport, I carefully ripped up and threw in a bin my airline ticket thinking it was an unneeded receipt part or something. I had to sprint back from the boarding gate to the sales desk and buy another one for over 100 euros. I didn't tell my partner who I was travelling with what I had done (when I remembered a bit later what I must have done with the 'lost' ticket), because I was too embarrassed by my over-zealous efficiency. I was SO f***ed off with myself. I hate making mistakes but if I make a mistake that also costs me money, I never forgive myself.
I have also wasted money on partworks (Atlas Editions), and a season ticket for Vancouver's ski fields in the year when they had so little snow I could go snowboarding only a few days.
  • Gingerlemon - I have done this before too, coming back from the US....

The irony was that 1. I had maxed out my credit cards so literally had to beg (tears, pleading, the works, in front of a huge queue) to be waived the admin charge to issue a new ticket otherwise I would have been stuck... and 2. the only reason I had cleared out as much rubbish as possible was that I had bought so much stuff that I could barely fit it it my new suitcases....

    humiliating is not the word!
  • George Best: "I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered."

But he did try to mend his ways... "In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol - it was the worst 20 minutes of my life."
  • Have loved reading all your stories & isnt it great that we all realise now what mistakes we made & look after our money much better.

Can't think of any major money wasting but i hate losing money due to my own laziness or incompetence.

I read a lot and often take out 11 books or so from the library, frequently forget to renew them and a couple of months back had a £40 overdue fine cos I "forgot " for 4 weeks.

I really wanted a 4 x 4 cos i was involved in a work at home direct selling business and everyone used to turn up to the monthly meetings with one with their logo's on the back wheel. so I bought a Nissan terrano for £3000, loved driving it but not a good idea when it costs you £50 a week to run and you only have one income so sold it approx 18 months later for £1000. Much happier now with my little C3 that Tesco's kindly gave me for free!!

Best investments -1) my gorgeous cocker spaniel who cost £450 but brings us hours of pleasure every day.

    2) GPS receiver off ebay for £40 which kept us occupied over the school hols geocaching , we are getting exercise, spending time together as a family & discovering beautiful areas of local countryside for free. Highly recommend this to anyone.
The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow, For children grow up, as I've learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby and babies don't keep.

  • A diamond necklace, really need the £800.00 now, but I feel guilty if I wear it. Have tried to resell it but don't want to lose 50%-60% on the purchase price.

Regarding dogs, I am a dog lover but my daughter is allergic to them so my cash is safe there!
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    one life, live it!
