The one we've seen is 4 double rooms LP, which is big enough for us. We could manage a 3 if it has a study/nursery room I could squeeze DS1 in as he's going to uni next year.We couldn't afford a 5 bed plus too many rooms to clean when they all leave !:D I'd rather walk than do public transport..it's far easier isn't it!

I'll take a look at that then Pammy when I get a minute - thanks. My make up takes 2 mins to wack on, I'm a expert. I don't do foundation though and I wear false eyelashes ( yes Im a bimbo!..joke) to make it quicker. It's a fine art getting it down to that time.

Are you expecting a big payout with the PPI then? Is that just for one or a few insurances? I've never bought anything like that although I did get my bank charges back about 3 years ago and was refunded £700 plus.

It's not bad to get a car with the money. Like I said before sometimes OP takes over too much. You also have a life to live too.:)

I have always had bangers, it gets me from A-B and is all I can afford at the minute and TBH my friends have had newer cars and some have had more problems!
I have been offered £5k and turned it down, hoping to get a few more pennies than that.

The reason I ask iris is we are in the middle of trying to upsize too, we have 2 girls and a 3rd as yet unknown on the way. I cannot see how we could manage on any less than 3 double rooms as this move is expected to be our forever home so I am trying to think of the girls being 14 and 15 rather than 2 and 3 so I fancy the option of installing a 2nd bathroom for the teenage years.

Pammy you should get a decent car for 5k as long as you fancy something mainstream like ford and not bugatti.

I wanted a new style ford fiesta lol dont think it will stretch that far, but I do like Seats as well

I have 3 kids, 16 and 6 year old boys who share a room and an 8 year old girl who has the small box room. My eldest likes to use the box room to get away from the little ones and the little ones like sleeping in the same room but when my DD is older she will want her own space.

Wow Pammy that's some payment coming your way! Cars are so hard to choose..there's far to many of them out there ! :)

LP we don't struggle ( much ) at the moment and we haven't tbh. Maybe that's because I have 4 older boys and boys are in and out of the shower, quick as a flash! We're currently in a 3 bedroom , 1 bathroom semi and with this 2nd baby space is going to be very tight, It's mainly storage space , clothes storage that we lack on. The baby is due soon so we pretty much have to leave now. Like in Pammys situation you could go for 2 beds and a box room easy.It always falls into place.

I've tried my new actifry...twice now and the verdict "chips were lovely!". The first time I used Maris Piper and they were nice but crunchy , the second time white multi purpose potatoes ( 2 bags for £2 from Mr. A ) and they were "Very Nice". I can see it's going to be trail and error on this but already I love it and it's not at all messy to use and can be put in the cuboard out of sight after use. :j

I mentioned the other day that we've seen a house that we really, really want and need ? :D It's on the same "Street" as the other house we wanted but £50k less, lovely location in a little village, 4 double beds, en suite, needs work , new kitchen and bathrooms but nothing major. It overlooks a river and has a mini waterfall right outside.:D We are quite excited about this one and can see us living there. Fingers crossed..only 4 more fence panels and some double gates to paint, some internal painting and more interior doors to go on, 2 lots of carpet to go down and we're finished in this house! I can't wait. I just wish there was more hours in the day to do it all!

Oh wow you have me excited about this new house you like. I do like looking on right move to see what houses are for sale and how much etc, just out of curiousity and boredom more than anything.
Make sure you ask about flooding. That is the only thing that would worry me about living near water! But it sounds so lovely.

I looked at the acitfry but it sounds so expensive and does it take a long time to cook the chips?

I think modernisation has to be the way to go to get a good deal on a house but there are limits lol plus you may have to live in it with the children as well while the work is being done.

exactly, I am thinking not been decorated since the 50's, coloured bathroom suite, formica kitchen I can live with and sort, if we are talking damp, new roofs etc then no way. Worrying no internal pictures for either.

Rightmove is dangerous. We have a right giggle looking at some of the houses, they all have the same silver huge backed tv's on the pictures...they're everywhere! They're the same T.V i had when me and OH got together. He hated my T.V. but it did the job :)

Glad you're sharing my excitement Pammy. :D Flooding is on my list of questions, especially as it has a cellar, which is something I'd love to stash dry groceries, plently of room for bogofs! :)

The river is very low compared to wall size it doesn't look like it's ever been upto the top but you never know. The first house we saw on there is grade 2 listed so I need to know if this is too, not sure about the ins and outs when it's graded...the net will come in handy for that.

I've been there and done that and modernised my first house, which we bought in 1994 for 16k! Makes you laugh that price doesn't it. We had 2 children and it needed new ceilings, kitchen and bathroom, it had no internal doors as we had to remove due to the glass in them and no heating. We borrowed a calor gas heater . The worst bit was no money to modernise it, we lived in it doing it up as we went along. Never again,..but I ( notice the shift from We to I then? :rotfl: ) sold it for £43k in about 2001-ish so made a profit. But thats how everyone made money on their houses isn't it. This house needs work but is liveable. It's a forever house so I'm not bothered if it needs more doing to it than initial impressions. I want this house!

Are you finding out the flavour LP? I don't think it matters so much when they are small with room sharing.

I'm not on commission here I promise..:) The actifry was £199 for the family size from c0met, ( they're normally 299 ) with 2 free tef8l frying pans worth £51, free delivery and cashback of course. We needed a new one as the other slightly leaked. It takes about 40 mins depending on how many you put in, it's on a timer too so you can leave it to cook. You look at it when your chips start cooking and think this is never going to make decent looking / tasting chips but it does! Amazing really. Makes a nice chip but obviously not a greasy one to to using very little oil. It was OH that wanted it I could have made do for a while longer and got something cheaper.

I'm planning to OP today but TCB hasn't updated for the day yet so I can't withdraw ' till later :(

    Back later
