    Good morning everyone!

My approved food order came yesterday and there was so much stuff. I'm very pleased with it. There was some stuff missing, it was still on the delivery note so I presume its been missed in the packing process and wasn't OOS at the time. I've emailed them anyway so I'll see what they say.

We seem to have a lot of cake things, packs of cake mixture, crumble topping and buns. :o and 12 packs of tortillas which are OOD but taste fine and are still very soft.

We did a few jobs around the house yesterday and I got my dishwasher working again ! I'm so pleased as washing up is a big pet hate of mine.

I need to organise someone to come around and clean the gutters as the neighbour is complaining that we have never had them done ( we have I've lived here 10 years ..I think I'd know ) he sent me a letter in October and has now said again about them. Like Im going to get someone around at that time of year! He's threatening to do something about it if I don't sort them. I don't want any trouble even if I think he's an old whinging, nosey troublemaking ........ (insert what you want) so I need to make a call and get someone to come around next week. More expense.

Today is Friday ..I lurve Fridays ..DH is off work and today we plan to go out to see some boats with the little ones and maybe walk by the sea at Lytham St Annes. Hopefully the sun will be out...fingers crossed.

Well a so so day yesterday. We arrived at St Annes and walked along the prom for about 20 minutes and then got back in the car as DD wouldn't settle at all in the pram. I think it was her teeth. Poor thing. Her gums are really bulging at the bottom.

It's funny as we was only about 50 minutes drive from home and we noticed how polite everyone was , smiling and nodding at us. Not like where we live and no one looks at each other and avoid all eye contact. I guess that that's what a life by the sea and out of the rat race does for you - makes you happy and content and sociable. Roll on for us moving house !

We haven't got much planned for today. We plan to go to Clarks and get DD some new shoes and make HM pizza and garlic bread - it's nice to have no plans. :)

    Isn't this website so amazing.:)

We have a outside drain that drains but overflows when someone has a bath, there must be a slight blockage somewhere but I don't want to pay for someone to come out and look. I've tried soda crystals but the problem is still there.

We have a pressure washer but it needs a new hose so to kill 2 birds with one stone I've just ordered a new hose for the pressure washer so we blast the drain with and also wash the cars. The hose is the same price on all the websites so I've searched on MSE and found a 10% code which got me £3.57 off, which I've OP'd already :D

This is how a lot of my Op's come about. Finding codes and Op-ing the difference.

Oh and I got 10% cashback too!.

This will come out of my household maintenance budget as it will cost me far less than the call out charge for a drain person thingymajig!

I was reading about clearing the drain as mine was the same, overflowing into our garden when we empty the bath. I have read about baking soda and white vinegar which makes some sort of explosion and I am hoping it will clear it and then once a month I will pour some down each plug hole to clear the pipes. Hope it works as I tried the soda crystals as well which did nothing. I dont have a pressure washer.

Fingers crossed it works. I am also going to put it in the dishwasher to clear that out every so often and using it to clean my carpets lol, many many uses!! :D

No we don't have a window cleaner - too much money and the windows don't get that dirty upstairs. Good idea though thanks LP.:)

Unfortunately we don't have tall ladders to do it with the pressure washer and OH doesn't do heights very well. We need the guttering fixing in 2 places anyway so I think the roofer is the only option. The gutter is dripping only slightly and I wouldn't normally bother with that but you can tell as it drips when the ground is dry and with selling the house it doesn't look maintained.

Thanks ,I'll try the white vinegar Pam - where did you get yours from in the end?

I was surprised that the soda crystals didn't shift it

sorry to hijack your thread Iris, but can I ask Pammy a question - how do you clean your dishwasher with baking soda and white vinegar? Where do you put it and what quantities? Does the same mix work on slow-draining baths? Mr Muscle is sooooo expensive!

I learn so much on this site!

    Thank you!

    Part of the Furniture
Isn't it bicarb and white vinegar? I know they react when together. Never tried it with baking powder myself so i don't know if that works. I regularly chuck that down our plugholes from the top and we never seem to have problems. (Touch wood.)

We tend to do ours and the neighbours gutters ourselves. Done regularly it is a fairly quick job, and seems though he is in his late 70s i would not want him to fall. Hopefully it shouldn't cost too much, and like you say make it look better maintained and you can use it as a selling extra.
  • I think it's washing soda and white vinegar...sorry Iris.
