No its fine Michelle I didn't think that.

My ex is the reason I got into debt in the first place and from buying food on my credit card , it then all spiralled into depression and spending. I only sorted it out this year when I paid £30k worth of debts off. probably more. We've been lucky really to pay if off so quick.

That's why I count for every penny as I know if I don't a 1p here , £50 there it gets quickly forgotten about and I'd end up broke again.

3p seems so silly when I've spent so much on carp recently though! As the challenge is finishing soon I'm trying this month to pay off as much as possible. How you doing with your personal challenge?

LP I wouldn't have thought that any Uggs are any good in snow etc..are they?

I had some ugg rip offs last year and they got soaked and soon started to smell. Due to a grabbit tip I have some gorgeous Cath Kidston wellies I bought for this winter so Im prepared! The Uggs will have to wait.

    £10.01 from kiddicare
£1.00 saved in Mr A's due to having a magazine voucher

    £11.01

Total for month so far £366.04

I'm currently doing the 1 debt vs 100 day challenge and my target for paying the mortgage off was £2092.68. Since it started on the 1st September I've paid £1022.74 off that's excluding my normal mortgage payments so not bad going really but I won't reach my target as that leaves £1069.94 to find by 10th December. Hmmm. That's going to be tough.

I've now sold the item that I was delivered 2 of during the week, which Im pleased about as I can now buy baby blue the boys version of it for free.:j I wouldn't have bothered buying it this year if I hadn't of sold it as he's a little bit young for it yet but it'll save for next year.

I popped to Mr L's today as they had an offer on crushelle toilet rolls. £6.99 for 24 so I bought 4 packs which filled the trolley. They wont last long in our house though.

We're off out now for a drive, a quick look at the christmas lights at the garden centre and another look at our the house we want. Last time we went the neighbours all had their washing hanging out at the side of the river bank in front of the houses which tickled us. It you put washing out like that near us I'm sure it would go missing.

I've decided to stop overpaying for a while at the end of next month so that I can save for the estate agents fees (over 2k) solicitors fees (£300 ish) and something towards stamp duty for the new house. It's been a hard decision to make but I know it's the right one.
    :)

  • I'm really behind with the diaries at the moment, just manage to update my own, let alone catch up or read any new ones. I love the shoes too :) I agree tho I have made the transition to flat shoes lately (which I never wanted to do as I had an ex once who wasn't that tall and said I had to wear flat shoes...worn heels ever since) I am now also MORE broody than I was in the first place, hes gorgeous xx
Mortgage November 2003 was £135k, but thanks to this website on 28/08/12 we became MORTGAGE FREE!
Now just over 2 years we have taken on the challenge again! )(starting £237k Nov 2014) Current mortgage £232,399.82, current overpayment total £1550, years remaining= 17
  • My challenge is not going as well as i want to be honest. Though part of me is very tempted to just take some out of savings.

I've got behind updating that thread which is so terrible of me but there just does not seem to be enough hours to do all i want to.

I must try and catch up today if i get a chance later.

    Afternoon all,

Well I've now set the ball rolling to become a childminder. I'm getting a call tomorrow about attending a course which I'm hoping will be January as my OH get his new work holidays then and can take a day off to mind the children.

childminding enables me to stay at home and earn money with the view to do fostering in a few years time when they little ones are older. I've been qualified before but I never actually did anything about it, things have changed since then with courses to attend eg, basic skills and first aid ( rightly so ) I'm looking forward to it.

Other news...My DS2 , 16 ,has a job! :j He studys at sixth form college and has got a part time job at a large chain of electrical suppliers for weekends etc. Minimum wage but we are have to start somewhere. I'm pleased for him as it's so hard for anyone to get a job nowadays. :T

The cosi toes have arrived and they are fab - me and the babies just tested them out going for bread at morrisons and on the way back..I got asked out for a drink :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:! It made my day anyway! This man messing with a van across the road was staring at me and shouted over as I ignore him and was reading some paper in my hand "You ok?" I replied yes and wondered if he thought I was looking at a map ( Dont ask me why I thought that!:D ) He said I bet your taken aren't you. I said Yes sorry he then said "Do you want to come for a drink?".. There's nowt like cheek is there. I'm pushing a double pram , I've said that I'm with someone and he still asks me out for a drink! :D

Jo - Im broody too! The thought of my baby making days coming to an end is filling me with dread. I look at baby blue and think that he may be my last one and I dont want him to be.

Michelle - Its a massive task looking after a family and updating that thread. It's bigger than what I thought it would be.

Anyway must dash baby blue wants a cuddle and so do I ! :D

Had a good catch up of your diary - sounds like No6 is doing well - cannot believe you are still tempted by No7. Amazing news about DS2 getting a job - difficult to get at the moment and would imagine most 16 year olds wouldn't have the work ethic to try - obviously had a good role model in his mum!
    Mort at highest - June 2008 - £171,000 - Daily Int 5.9% = £27.64:eek:
    Offset Mort - Nov 2010 £150,299- Daily Int 3.75% = Nov £15.44
    Mortgage Jan 2012 - £136,000 - Daily Int 3.75% - £3.10

    Thanks guys! :)

BabyB - Thanks for your kind words. We push the children to get jobs, my oldest 2 have done paper rounds for the last 3 years or so to earn money and now my DS1 17 is so wise with money - he puts me to shame. I hope DS2 now follows suit and puts some away! I don't believe in handing things on a plate to the children, it doesnt help in the long run.:)

Over payments...made today consisting of :

    £3.00 p cone
0.04p from some change I found knocking about
    £27.43 from ..not sure where
£1.95 saved using Mr T's fuel voucher

    =

    £32.42

    Month so far : £398.46

I'm currently cooking... a steak stroganoff for supper for me and OH and the little lady. It smells delish. The older children don't like it. We are following it with Mr T's finest cheesecake which is to die for ! ( Unfortunately the children like this but won't get a look in anyway! No supper no dessert ! :rotfl: )

We're hoping to sit down tonight and watch the new Nitemare on Elm Street film on blu ray but seeing as we've been trying to get time to this for a week now I can only live in hope!

    Happy Tuesday everyone !

Well I'm now booked on a basic skills course for January regarding the childminding. This is a test for English and maths. I'm seriously nervous and I don't know why.

    1. It's ages away, its next year!!
    2. I can count and I can read and write !

I feel like I'm going back to school! :o and its not nice..I hated school. I was the one who signed in on the register on a Wednesday afternoon, came out, got changed on the bus into my mini skirt and boots and went shopping when it was double double art! Life was too short for school.

I'm being sent the dates through in December and they are at night on the other side of town ( somewhere I really don't know and in a bad area) or at weekends. I was hoping for a daytime course during the week really.

IF I pass (note the capital IF ) then I go on a briefing course, send my application off and then about 12 weeks later that should be it.

Please God make the questions easy so I pass them! :)

I now feel as if I have to brush up my skills, hmmm where do I start?!
