Michelle - Thank you. I follow your thread daily. You're my role model
I told you that I was thinking of doing a diary and here it is !Guess who yet?
I know hun.!st i'd gathered too that you were a SAHM now and had started mat leave. What a relief. That constant juggling is now gone. We are so much better off now on the whole too, as i can get the slow cooker on, make treats, buy bargainous presents as i don't buy the 1st thing i see that looks sort of suitable etc etc etc. I'm sure you know the drill. We have so few takeaways now and meals out, and the kids are loads happier too.
Hope your DHs pay gets sorted soon so you know where you are at, and you manage to persuade him you don't need that car.0 -
Good Morning all and what a beautiful day it is today!
It's funny how days like this make you get your bum in gear and actually want to do housework isn't it! I plan to tidy up the garden this weekend and get some painting done in the house ready for going on the market in the next few weeks. We have so much to do, not that I can do much as I'm quite large with this pregnancy.
Another OP...
The good news is that my OH was paid yesterday .. hooray.. the first of his wages in his new job, 6 weeks worth so not a true months figure but anyway.. I made a extra £90 OP which takes my OP's for August to £388.17 which really isn't bad to say it's money we haven't missed.
Reading that back it makes me sound a little up my own backside doesn't it??! I'm sorry I'm not the best at explaining things sometimes...The reason that I don't know how much we can OP each month and why we haven't missed the £388.17 is that we had credit card debts of 30k about 2 years ago and due to paying off about £1200+pm towards them, saving here and there and finally OH getting a redundancy payout we are now clear of it all. We have been extremely lucky and we know that... I'll tell you NEVER again though. Now it's onwards and upwards and OP-ing!
SmlSave - Hello there. Nice to "see" you. I plan to read your diary this week and hopefully get some tips.
October is when my next baby is due GreenT, it really isn't far away at all. Bet you can't wait..I can't
Thanks I33na and Wow ! Your daily interest is so low. I can't wait to get ours down. £8.60 is really too much.
and Michelle, You little detective you! Well the car...I said he can have it. Eek ! (but that's another story)
Have a nice day all and make the most of this weather!

What is it with these OH and the cars...
When my hubby needed a new car(for work). He was adament that his old one will not be sold as 'you need a car aswel'. i think after the awful time I had without my own car last year I was greatful for it... Though do think its a waste everytime I pull up at the pump.
Good Luck with the housework.
Enjoy the bank hol weekend- maybe your OH can tackle the garden and you put your feet up>>>sealed pot chellenger no992Total for 2011= £198
mfw= 2011 overpayment =
Mfw 2012 no#25=OP target £2000
The road to success is always under construction.0 -

Well done on your Aug OP! :TCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

We love our cars I33na but must admit when fuelling our main car up at the moment costs £190 for a full tank it makes you think! I look at it that he doesn't smoke or drink or go out ..its his only vice. If only he'd be happy tinkering away with his remote controlled Subaru!
The little jobs...
The gardens mostly done now, just the second lot of decking to stain which is the boys job to do this weekend. All hands on deck ..literally.
We went to B&* yesterday and spent another £80 to the £50 we spent there this week. It really didn't look like we bought much. Why does paint cost so much ? Bought some garden shades paint in a lovely blue for the garden bench which was dear really at £20 so we're getting it refunded and painting it white gloss instead. This Op ing makes you assess prices doesnt it! I wouldn't have thought twice about it before.
The new lounge and hall, stairs, landing carpet is being fitted on Wednesday - I cant wait as it will look so fresh , lots of shifting of furniture this weekend and painting skirting boards for OH.
On the mortgage front...and more ramblings
We had a chat last night and talked about overpaying as much as possible. It's lovely that OH is coming round even more to the OP's and looking at even more ways to save the pennies. We talked about selling our main car ..(Really this is a BIG thing for us! )..and using just the 2nd car for a year. We will really struggle with this one because of the room / size of the family plus I wouldn't have a car during the day but it could potentially let us OP by an extra £400ish a month not to mention the lump sum from the sale of the car...the answers there already isn't it!
The £601.86 normal DD amount is now out of the account and should update over the weekend. I'll update when it does. I am sooo excited about it. Is this normal ?
Have a brilliant Bank holiday weekend !

Is it normal?
I think you are asking the wrong question on this board. :rotfl:
2nd car, that discussion was made on my thread earlier in the year, and i am quite glad i decided to keep it. It makes our life easier, and though it is not cheap, we don't have many other vices. A few cans or a bottle of wine a week is all. I do try and not use it that much really, and i had to fill up today as DH needs to borrow it next week while his is repaired yet again, and i was pleased the cost has come down again. It was last filled up in June so i am not doing mega mileage, but i still have freedom.0 -
:rotfl: ..I'm glad not to be "normal"....well the excitement is now over until next months "real" update. the figure at the beginning of August was £89,955.26 and now ... £89,232.14 :j
On my spread sheet my end of month balance is £89,232.66
Can anyone help me with my SS please ...
Why are these 2 figures different ?
Is it to do with the number of days in the month with the mortgage being taken on the 28th?
I know the figures are pretty close ...Is that the nearest I'm going to get them?
I'm using FB's spread sheet should I adjust the end balance figure in column M ?
Any help is appreciated as this is pretty new to me.
I've got some OP's lined up already for September but I'm going to put them in as faster payments as it seems to take an age if I do it from the A&L to the H/F
Filling up in June Michelle that is some going either you have a little engine or you walk everywhere!I agree you definately need 2 cars when the other is in for repairs. Its then that you realise how much you rely on them.

Hi Iris
I use FB's spreadsheet. Is column M the end of month figure?
I just correct it each month to the figure i read online on that day. It is always out like you say by a few pence, and i put it down to interest i am being charged isn't accounted in the same way as the spreadsheet does it as i pay on the 15th. It is never more than say 50p out, so it doesn't matter if i have to manually correct it. If really worried, perhaps ask FB although he is away at the moment.
I don't use my car a lot. We don't really go that far in it. Maybe a couple of 10-20 mile journeys a week. More on a heavy week, but mostly at that level. I like having it as it is impossible to get public transport from where we live to where my mum and sisters live as they are another town. It's about 15 minutes in the car, but would require about 4 buses. I know i would not bother if i needed to do that. Not with 2 littlies. Then it is there if DH needs it too for the odd day. My insurance is only for 6000 miles per year and i think that is too high. I only put £20 worth of petrol in it in June too. At least it isn't costing that much.0 -
Hi Michelle
Thanks for replying. I knew I could rely on you.
Yes it's the end balance figure. I'll correct it like you do then...if it works for you it works for me.and it works in my favour anyway as its gone down an extra 52p.
Thanks again
Iris

Anytime. I am not a whizz at ICT but i did teach it for a bit so i can do a few things. Funny how knowing how to do a few bits made me qualified to do it.
It always seems to work in my favour too. Not sure why.0
